dropping bed time bottle?

is that ok? so his last bottle would be about 3pm?

DS takes a bottle at 7, 11, 3 and normally 730 but he isnt taking that last bottle over the past few days.

he eats meals at 9, 1, 6 so he is eating dinner before bed Chat Icon is it ok to go from 3pm to 7am without a bottle? 16 hours?

he is almost 10 months

Re: dropping bed time bottle?

that sounds like a long stretch to me with no bottle.
DD is 8 mos and since 6.5 mos she has been taking only 3 bottles...the one I dropped was the 11am one.
You may want to try dropping that one...that 9am to 1pm stretch shouldn't be too hard for your DC with the meals....maybe try dropping that one.
We do bottles at 8am, 2pm, and bed time - 7pm with meals in between.

HTH.

Re: dropping bed time bottle?

Yeah that seems to long to me too!
We do bottles now at 6:30, 12:30, 6:30
Can you adjust his schedule to eliminate one afternooon bottle? Maybe do 7, 12 or 1 and bed?

Re: dropping bed time bottle?

I say go with it.. you'll eventually have to drop that bottle anyway.. HOWEVER.. I would offer a sippy of milk after dinner before bed.. he doesn't need the bottle.

I WISH John would refuse bottles!!!Chat Icon It will make it a lot easier for you down the road.

ETa: maybe add in a snack after dinner.. like cheerios or fruit or grahm crackers.

thinkl about it.. as toddlers they do not need anything before bed but a last snack and a drink...Hes starting early.

Re: dropping bed time bottle?

I would drop the 11am as well. OR the 7am...does he want that bottle before breakfast?

What's his schedule?

DD does:
breakfast at 8
bottle at 10- (8 oz)
lunch at 1
bottle at 3- (8oz)
snack at 5ish
dinner at 6:30
bottle at 7-8 (make an 8 oz, but she recently only takes 6 oz)

Re: dropping bed time bottle?

We just recently stopped DD's night time bottle and she is 18 months. We give her the last bottle with dinner around 6/6:30. Sometimes I give her a little more after if she hasn't finished it.

I would maybe drop the 11 or 3 one and give him his last bottle a little earlier.

Chat Icon he is ravenous throughout the day. at 7 am, he is screaming for his bottle though he hasnt been finishing it.

his schedule is

7am 8oz (usually drinks 5-7oz)
9am fruit and cereal
11am 8oz
130pm fruit and veggie
3pm 8oz
615pm veggie and cereal
7-730 8oz but he is refusing it

i dont think we can drop either of the mid day bottles, he finishes them.

maybe ill try a sippy of formula with dinner and we can take that into his room before bed if he still wants it?

maybe its teething that is making him refuse bottles?

Re: dropping bed time bottle?

Hmm, does he STTN even when he doesn't have that bottle? What time is he waking up?

There are nights when DD won't take her bedtime bottle or she'll only take 2 oz..but it's usually because she's tired.

This is just what I was going to suggest. I do think no night time bottle isn't the best idea - too long with nothing and I'd definitely drop one of the mid-day bottles. In fact that's what we did.

My DD started refusing to take some bottles and vomiting big time after them - at that point she was on 4 as well. Our ped said to give her 3 instead, so she got (and still gets) one at wake up 7am, 1-2PM before her nap and then again at bedtime. It's working great. She's now 15 months, but we made that change around 11 months.
