Dry cleaner WRITES on your shirts???

OK.... I am looking at DH's suit shirt that I just had dry cleaned and on the inside of it on the bottom, it says, in what looks like fine point Sharpie, "Jennifer T" !! I look at the other 11 shirts that I dropped off and they all say the same thing on the inside of the shirts and have scribble marks.

Is this common practice?

I'm sort of appalled and want to go scream at them for writing in $100 shirts, but don't want to be an idiot if this is some sort of weird dry cleaning practice that I'm not aware of.

I have seen them write the persons initials on clothing...... I wouldn't continue to use a place that did that.... I really don't see the need to take a sharpie to my clothes............

I would be pretty irritated. The dry cleaners I go to usually tag the clothes. I have been to a few that staple the tags to the inside labels and THAT bugs me.. permanent marker would probably make me crazy.

I would be annoyed as well. What if you are doing a friend a favor, and bringing their clothes to get cleaned as well. Now "Susan" has "Jennifer T" all over her shirts!

I have never seen that before , I don't understand the purpose of a dry "cleaner" writing on someones clothes. They should call themselves dry "graffiti artisits" but cleaner is the wrong word.

I have never seen that before. Take them back and tell them they need to remedy the situation. Then switch dry cleaners.

Wow THAT would soooo annoy the hell out of me!!!!!!!! MY MIL is a seamstress at a dry cleaners & I asked her about this. She said this is not normal practice in her place, but if it was, she would have some really ANGRY customers.

My old dry cleaner used to do it. I never knew this until I took some shirts in for DH. I don't have the same last name, so now he has a few shirts with my last name in them.

I guess they do it if you are a regular customer, they don't lose or mix up your shirts. I'd rather have the tags.

My old dry cleaner stamped our last name on the collar- can't stand it!!!

umm no! that is NOT a common practice. I have never had anything written in any clothes.

I did however used to use a dry cleaner that stapled the ticket to the label inside the clothing and I asked them to stop doing that. they didn't so I stopped using them.

I'd be furious.

I've been complaining to DH for ages that his cleaner STAPLES the tags to my Brooks Brothers labels.

Now that it happened to his one and only Armani shirt, he's fit to be tied.

But, MARKER? come on now!

I think I'll let Rob handle this one this weekend... I'm too nice in real life, lol....I'm afraid to give the shirts back to them.... and you don't even understand - we just moved and hadn't ironed in ages so this happened to TWELVE of Rob's shirts.... and the man doesn't own much more than that. ugh. They are all Nautica and good stuff for work... man... hmmm they did a pair of pants too that day, I wonder if it's in them too....
