DS didn't want to stay at day care this morning and I feel terrible?
I feel so bad that I had to leave him crying once again at day care. He was digging his nails into me and didn't want to let go. He's 20 months so I know this is normal but it makes me feel like I should turn my car around and go get him. I can hear him screaming as I walk to my car. It is the worst feeling in the world to me. I thought that by this point it would stop and I wouldn't be crying anymore on my way to work.
I hate to see him like that and it's all of the time. I'm sure he's better throughout the day but still I have my reservations about leaving him anywhere. And, it's just so unfair that he has to go somewhere that he doesn't want to be....
I just feel bad:( Thanks for reading.

It is the worst feeling in the world.
I have been thru it as well. Do the teachers tell you how long he crys for? Typically I think they stop within a few minutes after you leave...

Re: DS didn't want to stay at day care this morning and I feel terrible?
Thanks for all of the hugs. They tell me that sometimes it's a few minutes and sometimes it can take 1/2 hour (yikes). I know that he has a lot of friends because they were happy to see him (he's PT at daycare). He hadn't been there since last Wednesday because I took a few days off and he was with mu IL monday and tuesday. But, his friends came right over and told him to come play - it was so cute but he didn't want much to do with them.....
I'll see how he is later.

You know what...sometimes we have days like that, but I always know that every time we leave like that, he calms down quickly as soon as he sees his little friends, so I don't feel guilty! I always call and ask how he is doing, I trust the daycare manager to tell me the truth...

Breaks your heart...but I know the teachers at our daycare tell us that when the kids are not there for a while (with their parents for vacation or long weekends) it's always a hard transition to come back. But it always works out and they get back into the routine. So it's very normal - especially considering the age.
