DS does NOT like being "punished"

DS has been bitting his PNP and now there are 2 holes in the fabric.... yes, I am not happy about this since I would like to reuse it for #2.

So I have been telling him "do not eat your PNP" on and off for a while already. He likes to watch TV standing up in it and chew the side.

Today was no excemption. So I seriously told him not to do it. Well the Backyardigans were on....so no listening to mommy.

He started crying like tears rolling down his cheeks. OK, I am not an evil mommy so I took him out of the PNP and put him in his chair in the LR to watch TV. Then told him gently that he cannot eat the PNP and point to PNP. Looks at it 2 seconds, cries. I told him again softly. Maybe I insisted too much because he was no longer listening. I turn off the TV. OMG.... he cried so much!!! It took me by surprise. He never cried before when I turn off the TV. I guess it was one of his favorite episode....The Cave Party!!!

Re: DS does NOT like being "punished"

I am a "evil" mommy too. This morning when I told DS to get down off the dining room table and didnt listen then started to pull the table runner off, I told him NO again, took him down, he climbed back up. I told him NO, tapped his hand and placed him on the couch. HE WAS HYSTERICAL CRYING!!

I felt bad I hurt his feeling but better then him getting physically hurt. He got over it. It only gets worse as they get older

Re: DS does NOT like being "punished"

I tap DS hand as well all of the time. He is a very very very very defiant child. And he gets it from his daddy. He does not listen to "no" at all. Even if you tap him he makes the motion of hitting by waving his hand in the air, then walks away, then when DH or I are not looking he goes right back and does the same thing again. He is so not scared of us and is a little con artist already.
