DS fell face first on concrete--has an egg--what else should i do?
we were at the sprinklers at grant park (HATE that place by the way--don't know why we went) and DS was having a ball in the sprinklers. all of a sudden he fell and couldn't break his fall so he fell forehead first onto the concrete (don't know WHY they have the sprinklers on concrete, but that's another story).
his inner lip was bleeding but all his teeth seem fine. a few minutes after he fell an egg started forming right between his eyes and it was bleeding a little. he cried, but then after some cuddles, he went back to playing. DH watched him while i called and left a message for the ped. i'm waiting to hear back from him.
we left and put ice on it for a few minutes and some neosporin. he's napping now because it's nap time and i'll make sure he doesn't sleep any longer than usual.
besides watching him closely, is there anything else i should do while i'm waiting to hear back from the ped? this poor kid is learning how to run and he's falling left and right even though we're right next to him. he has 3 big cuts on his forehead alone from the past week but this egg just looks so bad.
my poor baby.

Coming from the mom of a very accident prone little boy - try not to panic and worry too much! Billy has had so many "eggs", bumps, bruises. I used to get so worried and call the ped and it was always the same thing - watch for lethargy, vomiting, unusual behavior. If he went back to play and was acting ok, I would think he is ok.

thanks!
i try very hard not to be a worrying mother. i guess because he fell so hard straight on the concrete is why i'm worried.
i heard from the ped--he said the same thing you did and what i knew already--to just watch him.
this part of motherhood i'm not enjoying at all!

I hear you! My DD was so calm, so when DS started walking/running, it was a whole new ballgame. And then the climbing on furniture started. But I swear I can put him in a padded room and he would find a way to bruise himself up

this happened to my son last year, also at the park, the egg freaked me out at first and i panicked, we put ice on it right away. but good news, it was gone he next day, barely visible. and it helped that he had long hair that covered that spot, but I was shocked to see how it did totally go down.
he'll be fine.

I swear as soon as Damien started walking he had a permanent set of bruises across his forehead. Jaidy rarely has any. I swear it's a boy thing
Hope he is feeling better and so is Mommy
