DS had a reaction to Peanut butter today, anyone have experience with Peanut Allergys?
This is the second time he has had a reaction. I just started giving him Peanut butter sandwiches, since he just turned 2. He has been eating PB Granola bars, PB smoothies and has never had a problem. It is only when he has straight PB. THe first time he got a rash on his chin and the second time he got the same rash and was rubbing his throat a lot. I got a little scared and called the doctor. She had me pick up a Epi pen and make an appointment to get him tested.
Neither my family or DH family have a peanut allergy so I have no experience with this. Just wondering everyone else's experiences.

My DS just found out he had it! THink of Will Smith in the movie Hitch...that was my son..face, lip blew up and red blotches all over..
Benedryl made it go down pretty quick! so we carry that around everywhere now...and we got bloodwork done to see what exactly he was allergic to...it turns out - peanuts, cashews and pistachios...so we have to carry benedryl and epi pen wherever we go!
they more reactions/exposure the more the severe the allergy can get...so try not to test the waters without knowing exactly what they are allergic to!
we also have NO peanut allergy in our family..and his sisters fav lunch is P B&J
so he doenst know the difference it is a lifstyle change for the rest of the peanut loving family!!!

I love Peanut butter! The doctor said no peanuts till he is tested, which is okay with me. I'm scared to give him any. The allergist asked if I had blood work done. It just happened today, so I didn't even know he had a problem. I was happy to get the epi pen in the house, just in case. I gave him Benadryl for the first time and it really knocked him out. He is sleeping so soundly.
