DS has a bad cold...do I just let him moan and cry at night?

He is a little better today but all last night he was moaning and kept waking up, coughing, etc. I would hold him and he'd still moan. He is almost 1 so its not like I can cradle him much anymore..he doesn't like it much and he gets heavy otherwise I'd hold him ALL night. I rubbed his back while he layed in his crib but what else can you do really? Just let them lay there and cry? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I felt horrible.

You can get a prescription decongestant from the ped. I usually give it a few days and if he is really not sleeping I call the ped. THey need their sleep to get better...

The cool mist humidifer with the vicks scent pads really help both AJ and I out. Plus I used the vicks soothing bath wash on him at night time and I think that helped a bit too.

Hope Charlie feels better soon. Chat Icon

Does he sleep with a pillow? We gave my son one when he had a bad cold, as per my ped...I was sooo nervous about it, but it did help. The dr said that laying flat put to much pressure on him.

I did the same but I also used the Vicks scented pads in the humidifier and I got at BRU the little babies chest rub. It's like the Vicks vapor rub but not as potent. It seemed to help. She's just getting over brochiolitis. Hope your little guy feels better sonChat Icon
