DS has first shots tomorrow - ?
I'm so nervous for his shots. Did you give your DC anything like tylenol before the shots? Or after?
I'm sure this will be harder on me than him, but I can't help but worry.

Re: DS has first shots tomorrow - ?
I HATE having them get shots....I stand up by their face, and get as close as I can, and talk to them....but I can't watch the shot going in...it makes me want to throw up.
I didn't give tylenol to my littlest one the first time he got shots, or this time. But I will from now on. I did the same with my first because I didn't want them to have tylenol so young (unless they ran a fever...my oldest never did....my youngest had 100.5 last night so I gave him the tylenol)
From now on I will give the tylenol about an hour before we go. At first, I didn't want to do it because I didn't want it to mask the fever...but the more I thought about it, I wanted them to not feel the pain of the shot as bad.

Re: DS has first shots tomorrow - ?
DS screamed his head off for a few minutes, napped for 2 hours afterwards, and then was totally fine.
i would not give tylenol beforehand, but ask your ped if you can give him some if he has a reaction after the shots.
remember - it's harder on US than it is on them

Re: DS has first shots tomorrow - ?
I didn't give anything, nor would I.... tylenol has effects other than pain relief... his system will be taxed enough with all the immunizations. the pain really isn't so bad.... it's more traumatic for mommy than baby.... baby just doesn't like any sudden/unfamiliar feelings so of course he'll scream... but if you have his favorite toy and a bottle near by, he'll be better by the time he reaches the car

Re: DS has first shots tomorrow - ?
I was not there for my DS first set of shots, but my DH told me that the doctor gave him tylenol befor the shot. Biut the last few shots that he got I didn't give him anything. All I did was talk and played with him. He was fine.
God Luck!

My ped suggests tylenol right after the shots, that's what I've done.

Re: DS has first shots tomorrow - ?
For the first round of shots, I gave DD one dose of tylenol when we got home from the shots. Besides crying for a few minutes when the shots were given, she was fine. She slept a little more than normal over the next 12 hours though.
For each subsequent round of shots I have not given tylenol and DD has had no issues.
