DS is biting! What can I do?!?!
For a few weeks DS has been biting me hard. He doesn't do it to anybody else as often as me. (But I do hold him the most. My mom swears it's because he wants to breastfeed, but he will do it right after feeding too.) I actually have little bruises on my shoulders from him. If I'm playing on the floor with him, he will come over and just bite down anywhere he can. Luckily, my shirt takes the sting out of most of them. He tries to bite my legs, but can't get a good grip.
I know he has 3 teeth emerging, but this has to stop. We give him teething rings and toys to bite, but I'm his favorite chew toy. He didn't do this for his first 2 teeth.
What can I do? TIA!!

You can pit him against AngRich. She handles biters really well.
What I did is put them down immediately & say firmly, "No bite!"

I know. I have feared posting this.
But I can assure you that he is not in daycare torturing others.

DS did it to us too. After 1000 "NO", he is out of the stage. He had bitten my shoulder and DH's (yep, VERY painful!). He tried to bit on our fingers too. He is no longer bitting.

Re: DS is biting! What can I do?!?!
I was wondering why my ears were ringing!
Some suggestions...since back in June Lucas had one biting incident we did a lot of research and work...if it's okay to share:
- Pull away from him immediately and tell him in a strong (but don't yell) tone "ouch - no biting"
- I love the book "Teeth are Not for Biting" Link
- This was helpful for information:

Lucas will open his mouth to us (only DH & me) when he is frustrated or trying to be affectionate...we are usually holding him when it happens so he goes for our shoulder. He has never gone for any other body part. We did the following to minimize this:
- No more playing with our mouths - no play biting or kissing. Only kiss on the cheek or mouth and announce it as a kiss every time. No using our mouths for anything - we used to blow on his belly - no more.
- When I am holding him and he starts to push away I get him to a safe place and ask him "Lucas down?" He calms immediately and I put him down to walk. (trying to build his trust that I understand)

Did I make you fear posting this? Did I do or say something wrong along the way?

Re: DS is biting! What can I do?!?!
I don't really have any advice, but did want to let you know I found a book at the library called "teeth are not for biting".
