DS is going for surgery #6 this week and something positive w/ some PICS
So DS is having GI surgery this week and will be in the hospital for a number of days. I am very nervous, but I feel calmer with each surgery he has, if that makes sense. I guess I find that the better I handle it, the better he does, too. I am so dreading the hospital stay, though. Besides losing so much sleep (all of us), it's hard to see him get so upset at everything while giving me the look that says "make them stop". Santa got him a Dr kit for xmas and we've been trying to prepare him for all of this (he especially goes hysterical everytime they do the blood pressure cuff). I'm hoping that helps We just feel so bad- so many surgeries and things to go through for a 2 year old!
Anyway, other than all this he's been doing great He loves school and has been communicating more. He, among other things, now says grandma & more. He also signs a bunch of things, but the new one is "car". We are so so proud of him!! We are praying for a smooth surgery and recovery. I am so looking forward to a future without so many surgeries...ah, well, maybe in a couple years

such a handsome boy
he has been through so much, I hope his surgery goes well
I know it is on a MUCH smaller scale but when miki had tubes put in and her adenoids removed, we got her a bear at build a bear and bought scrubs for him, she LOVED it and to this day, she still plays with "doc"

omg he is too cute!!! 
 for you and DS having to go through all this. DS had to have surgery at 7 weeks and has to have another surgery this month, so he'll have had 2 surgeries before he's one....I can't imagine how you've handled 6 of them. What amazes me is how strong and resilient they are even when they're so little! I hope your DS comes through with flying colors and may this be his last!!!!

Thanks, Steph That's actually a great idea. Ethan got a Get Well build a bear from DH's bosses for his surgery in early 2009. It has a thermometer, robe, etc. I'll have to bring it
