DS is really sick and I don't know what else to do for him...

It started Monday afternoon around 3:30ish. He just became really cranky. I put him down for a nap. He fell asleep and slept but still woke up very cranky. I knew right away something was wrong. Then he wouldn't take his bottle and threw up twice. On Saturday he threw up as well. So from Saturday to Tuesday he has thrown up I would say about 3 or 4 times and he has a fever. His stomach cannot hold anything down. He's throwing up.

I took him to the doctor yesterday. He threw up in the car on our way there. His regular doctor wasn't in yet so he was seen by another doctor. DS's temp was 102. She said it is something viral. She gave me something for the diarreah (cuz he's got that as well) and told me to try soy milk because she advised me to stay away from his regular formula milk since he's been vomiting. Now I'm really worried because yesterday all he had was about 6 oz of soy milk and no solids at all! He saw the spoon and started crying hysterical. I don't know how to get liquids into him except by a spoon. He doesn't want the soy (which by the way he threw up yesterday), he doesn't want pedialyte or water. I have to give him something by spoon otherwise he will dehydrate because he's throwing up everything. His temp yesterday was 101 all day. Never went down.

Now its finally down to 100.0 he drank 3 oz of the soy milk and had very little solids (no throw up yet...thank God) All he does all day is sleep a little and wake up. All he wants to do is just lay down. I feel so bad for him, he's so miserable and cranky and nothing we do soothes him. He's lost weight too. He was 17lbs. 14oz now he's at 17lbs. 7oz and i'm afraid he's only going to go lower because he's not eating. He just simply refuses. I miss my happy little boy...

Sounds like you're doing all you can and just have to wait it out. I hope he feels better soon!

It will get better. Just try to keep him hydrated with pedialyte. It's hard but has to be done. My ped always tell me small frequent sips of the pedialyte so they hold it down.

Well I had to bring him back to the doctor today because it was around 10:30 am and still no wet diaper since last night. Given the way he's been feeling the doctor wanted to check him for dehydration.

He's not dehydrated yet but if he continues to have less and less wet diapers and if his eyes begin looking really dry then he has to go back in, possibly to the hospital, where he'll need an IV...

I am really worried about him now.

I think I saw them at a supermarket but I am not which one.

He will get better soon. This happened to DS about a month ago and he went without solid food and fluids for 48hrs. I was spoon feeding him pedialyte and water and then he would vomited. The weird thing was that he still had wet diapers and that was a good sign. I hope he feels better soon.

personally..I would go to hospital.
I only say this because this happened to my niece and she was really little and it turned out to be the roto virus-(I am sure I spelt it wrong) the constant throwing up became a real issue with her intestines.
I would follow my gut--whatever u think.
Sometimes..like with pneumonia for example..docs put things off and put them off and there is a issue.
He can go and get 24 hour medical attention and a iv.
and..roto virus is going around, its why my little ones are not allowed out yet.

Well as of 4pm it will have officially been 48 hours since he got sick.

He'll open his mouth to the solids but immediately cries when the food is in his mouth. Then he cries hysterical when I try to give him more. Is that how your son reacted to the food as well.

How much pedialyte and water did you give him during the day?

He didn't cry hysterical when I try giving him solids, he would either spit out or would shake his head.
As far as giving him pedialyte/water, he would only drink about 1 oz and then would vomited 5-10 minutes later. So I just kept trying all day.

I had Marron at the doc yesterday for vomiting too and I was told that they don't really like to give anything to stop the vomiting. I was also told that even if they vomit, keep giving sips of fluid because at least some will be getting absorbed even if some is being thrown up. Have you tried giving fluids in a medicine dropper? I had to do this the other night with Marron. It also made it easier for me because I knew exactly how much I was giving her.

Marron also has not eaten almost anything in 2 days, and she has not taken a single drop of formula. I just keep giving her the Pedialyte (she seems to like the apple flavor) and offering food. Sometimes she'll take it and sometimes she won't. In 2 days, she's had a total of 1 jar of food. The doctor didn't seem too concerned about that. They really are only concerned about dehydration.

I would go-the worst thing they can do is send you home. But They will most likley put him on IV which eill only help... Keep us posted!

You should really try the Pedialyte pops. They sell them in the super market also...

Usually in the baby aisle...you have to freeze them first (since they aren't in the frozen section)

Can you try using a medicine dropper to get some water into him?
