DS just hit his head hard...
DS fell on my wood floor and hit his head really HARD.....he was walking and got excited and started running and just fell back I was right behind him. I'm home alone, he was hysterical for about two minutes, and now seems ok. I'm home alone and not sure what to do.....he seems ok now and has a bump but I am so paranoid, I've never seen him hit his head so hard.....I feel like a horrible mother right now!!!

Re: sorry he hit his head. happens to all of us
Call the ped to see if they think they need to see him. Normally I'd say ice it & check for any other signs, but it's not something you or I would want to be wrong about.

It's hard to see for the first time. If he seems okay, other than a bump, it's usually okay. If he lost conscious, threw up, or is now lethargic, that's what you look out for.
If you are ever concerned, call your dr to ease your mind.

Re: DS just hit his head hard...
DS has hit his head hard more times than I can count on our tile floor. If he cried for a few minutes and than stopped that is a good sign. As long as he was not knocked unconscious, isn't throwing up, pupils are dilating correctly and is acting normally he should be ok. Just keep an eye on him for the next 24 hours or so. Tonight, nudge him while he is sleeping and make sure you can arouse him. I think he'll be ok though but I know how scary it is!

Re: DS just hit his head hard...
If he didn't seem lethargic or throw up or twitch and cried, I would say that's good. My son fell off the bed once and hit his head hard and he screamed out, but then STOPPED crying and went limp...scariest thing ever, but even then the PED say as long as he went back to normal and no vomiting , that he would be fine. BAbys heads don't fully dorm till about 2-3 yrs old ( hence the soft spots) for that very reason, to be resilient to falls and bumps etc.
