Due date question
I go to a practice with 4 drs--2 woman 2 men. I like the men better. Anyway, I switched to this practice when I was about 22 weeks. The dr before hand had made my due date May 27th, because I told her that I THOUGHT I may have ovulated late. According to my last period though, I should be due May 22nd. Anyway, the baby has always been measuring ahead. So a couple of weeks ago, I asked my dr if my due date was wrong. She said according to all my sonos, the baby should be due May 22nd, but she isnt going to change the date.
I was kinda mad at this. 5 days isnt a big deal to her, but it is to me, especially since I am so close to the end. I have an appt with one of the male drs on Tues. Should I discuss this with him? Do you think he will change it? Or should I just leave it?
Sorry this is so long. Thanks!

Re: Due date question
Forgive me for asking as this may be obvious to people who are farther along than I am...does your due date change the way you are treated at the Dr.s office at all? I guess it changes when you start to go weekly but what about anything else? It's really very arbitrary in the first place. Oh, I guess it changes the timing as to when you would be considered late, etc.

Re: Due date question
Yes, my reasoning is for when you are considered late. My office will not induce until you are 10 days late. So for me, those 5 days are a huge difference if I have to be induced. I am sooooo ready to meet my little one!!!

Re: Due date question
I would speak to the other doctor next week, just for your peace of mind. But I wouldn't stress about the due date, unless you become really uncomfortable & overdue!
At my office, the Dr. said they don't change the due date unless you're measuring (from the early sonos) at least 5 days different than the due date. Back then, our baby was measuring ahead by 5 days, and they said it's not a big deal, and since it wasn't 6 days, they don't change it. I'm guessing each practice/doctor has their own standard for that.

Re: Due date question
Due Dates aren't really anything but a guideline. They don't mean anything to that baby inside of ya!

That would make a big difference for me, too but I can picture a doctor not thinking it is significant. If you are late and having problems, they would induce anyway. Still, you should DEFINITELY advocate for yourself and question this.
My doctor says that the first sonogram, at 8 weeks or so should be the one to set due date. I had other sonograms that were off by one day from that, but not 5 days.

Re: Due date question
My due date ranges from 9/23 to 9/30
LMP due date: 9/25 1st sono due date: 9/30 12 week ultrascreen due date: 9/23 20 week level II: 9/27
My doctor changed it at my first sonogram to 9/30 and won't change it back to an earlier date because it is within 7 days.

Re: Due date question
Depends on the practice - I was told that Columbia's maternal fetal group do the EDD based on your LMP NOT on your sonos EDD. My LMP EDD is 6/30 but by size she is measuring at an EDD of 6/15 or 6/16 but they indicated that they don't believe in changing it as the LMP is usually the most accurate.

See, my LMP and my sonos are matching each other. Stupid me though in the beginning told the dr I thought I ovulated late. I should have just kept my big mouth shut!

Then I would stick with May 22nd. So if you are late then you still meet your DC early compared to what you have told them. Your EDD is 2 weeks either way (early or late). So you could end up going early and be worring for nothing. Hang in their, your in the home strech now and just take it easy. Your dr.'s won't let anything happen to you or your baby.

Same here...my LMP due date 9/19 (which I know is not right) 1st sono due date 10/4 (which I think is right) 2nd sono due date 10/1 (which could also be right in my mind) 12 week ultrascreen due date 9/22 (which I know is totally wrong) 19 week Level II 9/22
My Dr. is sticking with 9/22...but he changed it from his original 10/4 to 9/22 for me.

Re: Due date question
I wouldn't worry too much they are just estimated due dates and even if the baby measures exactly and you have a LMP date they are using (or whatever) the baby might still come early or late anyway.

Re: Due date question
A few days doesnt really matter until the end..
Im due 9/14 and the date is pretty much on target give or take a day or two..we went off the day we saw the heartbeat..Monday it wasnt there and Thursday it was.
Baby Boy is measuring a good week + ahead. I am hoping that I can get my due date moved up...here is my reasoning:
They wont schedule a C-section until a week to 10 days before your due date. I will most likely be having a c-section b/c Im getting my tubes tied and its the only way I can insure that they do the procedure at the same time as the delivery. PROBLEM is that I wont last that long!!!! So we're going to have to take it on a week to week bases..
