Duggars considering adoption
They have 19 children, two grandchildren and one more on the way, but Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar say that doesn't necessarily mean their family is complete.
"We are open to the idea of adoption," Michelle, 45, tells PEOPLE. "We are praying about it, and we will see what God has in store. Love for children has been placed on our hearts."
The ever-expanding crew – eldest son Josh, 25, and his wife, Anna, 24, just recently announced they are expecting their third child in June – were moved by a visit to an orphanage in China on their recent trip there.
The visit to Beijing was filmed for TLC's special 19 Kids & Counting: Duggars Do Asia, which airs Tuesday (9 p.m. ET) on TLC.
"The kids are definitely pushing towards wanting us to open our home up to another child or more," says Michelle. "They see how much we have been blessed with and how little so many children have and they want to share. We tell our children that would have to be something that is God's will for our family, and we will see if it is. Our children love children, and we all do."
Though Michelle and Jim Bob, 45, lost their last pregnancy – a girl they named Jubilee – to miscarriage in 2011, Michelle says, "We are open to whatever is in store. It doesn't really matter whether I would have another child or we would adopt, but we want to approach it with an open heart."
She adds, "We have friends that have adopted children who are a great influence in our lives, and we have talked about their experiences. So it's something we've considered. We have to know for sure that is what God wants for us to do."
"When he gives us a child [through pregnancy], there is no doubt in our minds that is what He wants, but when it comes to adoption, we would have to know for sure that was His will."

Duggars considering adoption
I'm sorry but, why do they need any more children?!?!?! Wasn't her uterus almost falling out a sign that maybe it's time to just enjoy all the wonderful kids you already have?!?!?

I mean really... it's one thing to say well I got pregnant and will keep the baby because it is God's will (even though I think it's a crock, God said let there be birth control, and so it was!), it's an entirely different thing to adopt. Perhaps if more people used birth control there would be less need for adoption. And really, do all of their eleventy billion kids really get all the love and attention they deserve? I doubt it.

This would have been a wonderful idea 10 or 20 kids ago. I'm actually suprised she's open to it since she seems to love the bragging rights of birthing all them babies.

Duggars considering adoption
What a wonderful thing to do! I'm sure the child they may adopt will be happy and loved. If they can do it, and want to why not? It baffles me that this would be a bad thing. Yes having 19 kids isn't normal, but there was a time not long ago when it was the norm to have a lot of kids. My Grandmother is 1 of 16 and that was a normal family. They are not on assistance, they have happy kids, and them having 20 or 100 doesn't affect me at all. Why does it matter how many she had naturally or if her uterus was gone? Adoption is amazing.

Re: Duggars considering adoption
I'm all for it. Her kids all seem to be raised well and cared for. Somehow, she manages to raise all these children and I think she's done a fine job of it so if she can find the space in her family, heart and wallet to give a warm loving home to someone not fortunate enough to have one...then god bless! good for them!

Re: Duggars considering adoption
If they adopt and go live their lives, great.
If they adopt and turn it into a new show, it'll show that they just want attention, IMO.

Duggars considering adoption
Why anyone would think this is a bad thing is besides me.
They are a loving family, that care for one another, have raised very respectful and responsible children, who know how lucky they are to have what they have and do not complain about not having enough. They have no debt, take no hand outs from the government and are resourceful with their spending.
So why is it bad that they want to open their home up to share all the above with a child that does not have any of that?
Good for them, today's children need to learn a few things from the Duggar children.

Re: Duggars considering adoption
This is not cool with me. There are so many red flags that come up. They need to be forthcoming to the agency and social worker about their situation. I don't see how they would get passed the home study.

I don't see them as a loving family...more like a cult. Their older daughters seem completely brainwashed.

Re: Duggars considering adoption
They seem to raise good kids so I don't see an issue.
I mean Jinger seems a little angry sometimes but that's normal
Also, I don't see why people have an issue with this family or call them fame whores, etc. They have a TV show but it's not like the Kard ashians or something trashy. It;s not a train wreck type of show where you can't look away.
Yeah, I'm not into home schooling and having as many kids as "God wants me to" but other than I don't see a huge issue with them.

Duggars considering adoption
I don't really have an issue with it at all...there are a ton of children that need loving homes and they seem to have a good family. I would love to see if they pass the homestudy though as China is pretty stringent and I'd also love to find out if they do adopt how long their process was. As a adoptive parent and currently working on getting my next child, I'd be pissed if they were pushed through.
