Dumb new mom to be question
What is the difference between the walker and the exercauser?
I have the exercauser - do I also need a walker?

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
I personally would say no. I have read a few times that walkers don't really help them walk independently.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
the exersaucer is stationary, while the walker moves around the house as your child "walks". IMO, you don't need both.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
the walker allows them to learn how to walk with moving it and the exersaucer allows them to play while being still it just allows DC to wobble..
I would personally get both...

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
I believe the exersaucer is stationery. Mine are both still in the boxes so I'm not 100% sure about that.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
The girls hit a point where they outgrew the swings (for the most part), bumbo, bored by the playmat - it is an extra thing for them to go in and they love it.
In the summer they can use it outside (probably not your DS - because of when he's born). We have a set here and a set at my parents' and the girls love them both!!!

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
Exercauser is stationary, the chair usually spins around so the baby can play with all the activities.
A walker is just that, a walker. A lot of pediatricians dont like walkers because they are dangerous around stairs. I used one with my son but my stairways were all gated.
Its all a matter of preference, you dont need both. (I had both )

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
I have both--exersaucer at home, walker at my moms. They really are different. But, they have ones where you can lock the wheels and use as stationary and walker.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
we have both, only because I didnt want to get 2 walkers and 2 excesaucers....I got it for the variety, one will get bored of one and then I switch them.
Do you need both...probably not..if I had a choice I would go eith the excersaucer. Although...we bought an excersaucer that converts to a walker. My MIL has it. I think they discontinued it, I got it at my shower

Thanks - maybe I'll see how he is in the exercauser and then decide what to do.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
I had a walker, but we moved into a new place where there is all carpets, no floor, so I did not see the need, returned it and got the jumperoo.

I have the jumperoo too. I'm just wondering - how much stuff does this kid really need.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
We have both - she loves her exersaucer but is more content now in her walker. I think she feels more independent in it and she can explore more.
It's a personal choice - we use both. Walker takes up less room.
I too read that some say that walkers delay their actual walking skills but my mother told me that we all loved our walkers and all were walking by 9 months - so I don't know how true that is.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
Ha- we had the jumperoo, the exercsaucer, and the walker. The walker is nice because he can use it for a little longer - once he hits a certain age he'll no longer want to be in the stationary exersaucer, but might still let you put him in the walker.

Re: Dumb new mom to be question
We didn't get the walker because we didn't want DD crashing into our walls and furniture...lol....
She ended up walking at 10 months - so im glad we didn't investigate in one - plus she barely liked being in the exersaucer for long.
I would play it by ear - and then decide to buy it once the baby is months older...
