Dumb question: regarding weeks
So I went online to a baby site and put in my targeted due date.
On one side it said 7 weeks on the other 5weeks.
What do these two numbers represent and which one do you normally speak of?
The tech said I was 7

Re: Dumb question: regarding weeks
The seven weeks most likely includes the 2 weeks BEFORE you ovulated- from AF to ovulation. That is how they track pregnancy. The other is probably the gestational age.

Re: Dumb question: regarding weeks
Pregancy is measured in 40 weeks, which begins at the date of you LMP. A baby only takes 38 weeks to fully develop though. But, it's easier to predict the delivery date using 40 weeks instead of 38 because most women (not us on LIF!!) don't know when they ovulated. So, there is the 40 week calendar that doctors will go by and the 38 week calendar, AKA "gestational age". If you think about it, your baby will always be 2 weeks younger than your pregnancy because at the time you got your LMP...you didn't conceive yet. So, although you are 7 weeks pregant, your embryo is only 5 weeks. For your purposes, go by the 7 week calendar OR by anything that refers to gestational age as opposed to # of weeks pregnant. Does that make sense??? I struggled with this too but finally figured it out when a book I'm reading said "Your 10th Week" as the title of a chapter and in parentheses it said (8 Weeks Gestation). Anyway, I hope this helps.
