dvd system in car
We are going to lease the honda odyssey....I totally want the dvd system, but I am trying to be realistic...do we really need it...
by the time we trade it in, our boys will be 5 and 3 1/2, and we will hopefully have a new little one in the mix....do we really need it?
We do not travel far...most things are close to home...it's about $50 more a month for the dvd...

After reading this, I know the smart thing to do is not get the dvd, but I wanted other opinions!

$50 a MONTH! No way! Why don't you just buy a portable one for long trips, etc?

ITA. I bought a pair of Sony portable DVD players (roughly $150 each). We can use them in the car, and unlike the $$$ built-in ones, I can carry mine with me on the plane, on the soccer field for DD while DS is playing, etc, etc.

Re: dvd system in car
Just buy one. TOTALLY awesome to have for long trips- but NOT worth $50 a month.

$50 more per month! No freaking way! So not worth it.
DH wouldn't let me get the built in DVD player in the car. I was mad at first Then I spent 5 days with my friend down in FL who had them in her car for her 4.5 and 7 year old. OMG, insane, they had it one every second, cried when they couldn't have it on, fought over which movie to watch in the 5 minute trip, etc.
I came home and told DH he was right for once!

Re: dvd system in car
I bought a DVD system from Target called Trutech. It attaches to the back of the head rest and it works perfectly fine. The thing cost me (on sale) maybe 80.
We got to connecticut quite often and Paige would go stir crazy without it. I suggest buying something like that.

Re: dvd system in car
Since you don't travel far, I would not get one.
JMO, but I am not a fan of turning on a dvd everytime the kids get in the car.
