Re: dyson vacuum?
I have one and I love it. I did have to send it in for servicing a few months ago, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the two screws I found flying around in the cylinder (vacuumed up, they didn't fall off the machine ) We brought it to a UPS store, and they sent it out; we had it back in a week better than ever and free of charge.
If you're going to buy one, go to Bed Bath & Beyond & use the 20% off coupon - you really notice that 20% when it's on a big ticket item, and they WILL accept it for that. We used one.

Re: dyson vacuum?
I love mine. I have a red one and I bought it about 2 years ago. Four members of my family also have a Dyson and everyone loves them.
I think the difference between the models is the tool/attachments that they come with.

i second this!! i did the same thing and saved $80. LOVE my dyson, but, the attachments definitely take some getting used to.

Re: dyson vacuum?
There's a thread that discussed vacuums recently: Vacuum discussion
Most independent, impartial reviewers say that Dysons are good, but overpriced, and there are better, cheaper vacuums out there. If you have a Dyson, you'll probably like it, but if you get one of the better models from a different brand, you'll probably like it more, since it works better, and you can use the extra money for something else.

Re: dyson vacuum?
We have the animal dyson and we've seen a difference in he rug color and the dust. It trully does not ever lose suction and it sucks up every little bit of hair, dust, dirt etc in your home. And it's wuite flexible fo stairs, corners, kitchen floos and carpet. I highly recommend it!

Re: dyson vacuum?
Article
this is a good housekeeping article that talks about upright vacs - they say while the Dyson is good, you can get a similar (or even better) vacuum for less.

Re: dyson vacuum?
i just checked out the "vacuum discussion" post and now i am all sorts of confused! i had my heart set on the dyson... now i don't know what to do! i definitely need something with GREAT suction. we have a dog and a bunny and dark blue carpeting up the stairs and in the hallway. i want something that DH doesn't have to lug up and down the stairs for me. and i want something i can buy at BB&B with a 20% off coupon!

don't be scared of the Dyson. The animal dyson we have comes apart in sections, so you can carry a little thing up and down stairs. DH just used his to clean out the dust from his computer and I'm so allergic to dust, I never even noticed b/c the Dyson didn't spray it anywhere or spread it around.
The worst that can happen is that you hate it and then just return it to BB&B, but I don't think you will.
