Dyspraxia diagnosis

Has anyone had a.child.diagnosed with this?

DS is almost 5, and has neen receiving services.since has.17 months old. His main issue at first was.gross motor delays, then speech delay and then we added ed. Services. At 3, he qualified for.ot. the nuerologist says.no on ASD and his cognitive scores are in average range. Neurologist says global delays and possible ADHD, but hasnt officially diagnosed as he is still young.

He has made a lot of progress, but the motor issues, difficulty attending, impilsivity, temper tantrums, motor planning, etc. Are still a concern. The more and more I read about.dyspraxia, it sounds like him. Anyone with any experience with.this? I am going to talk to his OT and am meeting with ped. But wondering who diagnoses this? He has beenevaluated.out the wazoo, but no one ever mentioned this, but I've been up all night reading about dyspraxia and it sounds so much like him.... I just want to make sure so that he can get what he needs.

Dyspraxia diagnosis

My daughter is dyspraxic (also known as Development Coordination Disorder or DCD). She also has speech apraxia, hypotonia, dysgraphia and dyscalcula. She is now 8, but was diagnosed officially 7 by a developmental pediatrician.

Same as you, we first realized motor delays, then speech and motor planning issues. She has been is speech therapy since she was 3 and constantly being tested for other things but nothing exactly fit. It wasn't until her new speech therapist realized the issue and we were able to get her diagnosed correctly.

It's a tough disorder that is not really understood because it affects sooo many different things. Feel free to FM me with any questions.

Re: Dyspraxia diagnosis

Thank you for your response! Ds doesnt have apraxia of speech, he can form the.words fine. If anything his pragmatic speech is what is.weak. he is too young (not.in K yet) so I havent noticed dyslexia.or dyscalculia yet. However, all the other.characteristics seem to fit.him. He also has.hypotonia.

Do.you mind recommending your developmental pediatrician? I would like.someone that has experience.with this.

Thanks,
Karen
