Ear infections and azithromyican
Has anyone given their baby azithromyican? What side effects did your DC experience?
Hannah started it on Friday after Omnicef didn't work for her double ear infection.
The next day she started having a very loose cough, runny nose and diarrhea. She's eating a little less and not sleeping as well.
Do you think the medicine is making her a little queasy? When did you start seeing that your DC was feeling better? Hannah is so out of it.

Re: Ear infections and azithromyican
That is exactly what happened to Roman. He's been sick for 11 days now, the omnicef didn't work for him either, now he is finishing up his azithromycian and he has mucousy diarrhea, a rash, lack of appetite, lack of sleep and was miserable. How long has she been on it? Roman was prescribed 1/2 tsp daily for 5 days. I noticed a big improvement around day three but then the side effects popped up, but he still looks and is acting more like himself.
Hope she feels better soon

Wow sounds like Hannah. She has been sick for what seems like forever. One ear infection into another (stopped the first antibotic/amoxicillan at day 7 rather than 10 per doctors orders and then got her shots and now we are on a double ear infection..bad move!!).
The amoxicillan worked great, but they couldn't give it to her back to back. So we tried Omnicef first and it didn't work, so now we are on azithromyican. She has the same dosage (1/2 tsp daily for 5 days) and had her 3rd dose this morning, She's was in a good mood today, but like you said the side effects started today.
What did you use for the diaper rash? I'm using Butt Paste and it doesn't seem to be helping.
Hope Roman feels better too

Re: Ear infections and azithromyican
Zithromax can cause some stomach upset and diarrhea unfortunately. It happens to me when I take it. DD was so sick when she took it that it was hard to tell what was the side effect of the medicine vs. her beign sick.

Re: Ear infections and azithromyican
You should buy asodophylis (not sure if that's how you spell). It helps with the diahrea. Open up a capsule and put in bottle or in yogurt or food (if your DC is eating already).
