Early sono (16 weeks) for Gender reveal- at 3d U/S places..
So, I see that a few local places have a gender reveal package at 16 weeks, and it is actually CHEAPER than my co-pay for U/S at the Dr office...
From what I read online- it is NOT 3d, and Im not sure if you even get a photo (I think maybe 1)
But its just like a 10-15 min scan to reveal the gender...
Its not at ALL about the $$$ for me.... (Cause lets face it, IF my DR would scan me early- I would ABSOLUTELY do it and it would cost me MORE than going to this place)
But Im more scared of A) Baby not cooperating- and wasting time/money.... and/or B) these people being wrong (I mean the tech at the dr office could get it wrong, but for whatever reason I feel like I should have less faith in these people )
It really is only a matter of like 3 weeks difference, but this is my last baby and Im looking to just do it all.... lol (and Im impatient and wanna start shopping/planning- hashing it out with DH over names...lol)
Thoughts? Anyone else go to one of these places early- 16 weeks???

Re: Early sono (16 weeks) for Gender reveal- at 3d U/S places..
i ended up not doing it but had looked into it - cant help with everything you asked, but do know that most places will let you come back for free if the baby isnt cooperating
as far as them being wrong - you run that risk everywhere. my doctor offered me the gender at 12 weeks this pregnancy and when he saw me for the 20 week he said - yup same sex i noted at week 12. but anyone could make a mistake at any time

I went to one at 16 weeks and the baby was not cooperating (after over an hour!!!) and had her legs crossed so we came back a few days later to determine sex. I think most places would do the same..
I also think that they are doing the gender reveals all day, every day so they would be even more on point.
I did it with both pregnancies and am so glad!! I am really impatient

i went at 16 weeks and baby was NOT cooperating. the girl let me come back the next day and baby was STILL not cooperating. finally, after she had me there for an hour, we were able to get a look but i'm still not convinced it's correct. waiting til the anatomy scan at 20 weeks to tell people...

I had 2 boys and both sono's the tech didn't even have to tell me; it was OBVIOUS..... A girl though, I think might be more difficult....
Where did you all go? And was it 3d?? For some reason I think 3d would be more clear/obvious.... but from what I see most places wont do 3d til your are further along....
ETA- I guess if I went and wasn't confident, I just wouldn't tell anyone or shop or anything.....

Re: Early sono (16 weeks) for Gender reveal- at 3d U/S places..
I did that when I was pregnant last year - 16 week 2-D black & white gender scan ultrasound.
The tech told us we were having a girl. Handed us a printout of the ultrasound with arrows and "I'm a GIRL!!!" printed all over it.
At the 20 week anatomy scan at the doctor's office, it was VERY clear that our baby was a boy. Not only was it a waste of money to go early, but then we had to tell everyone never mind it's not a girl, return the pink things we'd gone out and bought in our excitement, etc. We should've just waited to find out at the doctor at 20 weeks.

Ughh this is my fear!
What place did you go to? (If you don't mind me asking)
I mean did it look like a girl to you? Having 2 boys, I know what a penis looks like- so feel like that would be obvious... WTH did she scan??? lol

While the genitals are formed by 16w, they are much easier to see as the baby gets bigger like around 20w which is why a lot of techs may be hesitant to determine gender that early.
I had an early anatomy scan at 17w but DD had her legs crossed. I went back around 20w and they were able to determine gender, wrote it down and then I had to wait almost 2 weeks b/c we were having a reveal party! Still, at each sono after, I still ask them to make sure she's still a girl b/c you just never know!

I wouldn't bother - too much chance of the baby not cooperating.

We did a 3d pacakage and it included 3 visits. The first one we did at about 16 weeks bc I wanted to know the gender. The baby didn't cooperate for an hour! She was so patient and had us come back again for the gender 2 weeks later at no extra charge. I had a great experience doing it. It was also 3d and we got some great pics and video.

Early sono (16 weeks) for Gender reveal- at 3d U/S places..
Well... I made an appointment... Im not sure Ill keep it, but I figured- minds as well set one up just in case!
The website does say that if the baby doesn't cooperate they have you come back.... so Im not really fearful of "wasting" money... More scared of a wrong reading (which like others said- can happen at the Dr office even)....
I am going to tell the tech to only tell me if she is like 10000% sure- lol

Mine was right. I actually was told I was having a girl at 13 weeks. I paid $50 for gender reveal at 17 weeks. 20 anatomy scan all said girl. Apparently my little girl was spread eagle! The tech even said she'd help me with returns IF she was wrong and she wasn't lol.

I live in California now so telling you the place won't help. But it was really hard to tell for me looking at it - the baby's still so small, the equipment wasn't super high resolution or anything, and the tech seemed very sure. DH thought it looked kinda like boy parts at first & she was all, "Oh no, look right here, see there's 3 lines." Honestly I think it was just too early to tell. GL at your appointment, hope it goes better than mine did!
