Earth's Best Baby Food v. Sprout Baby Food

DD is just starting solids and I want to feed her organic baby food (still debating whether I want to make some of it for her myself). She's had a few veggies so far - a few of them were Earth's Best and some were Sprout. The Earth's Best jars say they are good for 3 days after being opened so long as they are refrigerated. The Sprout packs say they need to be used within 24 hours of being opened. Right now DD is only eating once a day, so using an entire Sprout pack up in 24 hours isn't necessarily going to work well for us yet.

Any thoughts on why the Sprout shelf life seems so much shorter than EB? Is it the packaging? Does anyone use it after 24 hrs have gone by as long as it was refrigerated the whole time?

I think that Earths Best adds as orbit acid or citric acid to help keep is shelf life longer. Honestly, I've put the Sprout squeeze pack in a sealed ziplock and kept it for longer than a day with no problems.... I like the Sprout stuff better anyway.

I think its the packaging. Does Sprout come in the pouches? Earth's Best pouches say to use within 24 hours too. The jars last longer for some reason, not sure why.

I like the Sprout better too! The consistency seemed better to me.

Citric acid didn't keep the shelf life longer. It keeps the fruits of veggies from Browning. It's the pouches vs glass jars.

It's not the food itself, it's the packaging. I've bought all different types and the pouches are always good only 24 hrs its says and the jars always say 2-3 days. Even the earth best pouch says 24 hrs...
