easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
A friend and I were debating this topic-- what would you rather have-- a difficult pregnancy (not necessarily having a condition, but basically having every possible symptom and never feeling truly comfortable) and a smooth labor/ delivery or an easy comfortable pregnancy and long and difficult labor and delivery? I had the first and she had the second-- we both would prefer the opposite of what we had. Opinions?

Re: easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
I had really bad MS and a quick easy labor so maybe there is something to it.
ETA I would do it all over again and not change anything. I hope to have natural childbirth again with

Re: easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
I had an easy pregnancy & delivery but I think given the choice, I'd rather have the hard delivery, given equal outcomes with my long term health & my child's long term health.
Labors are over faster than the 10 months of pregnancy. Plus having to go out on leave before the labor shortens my time with dc after the delivery.

Re: easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
Well I had a difficult pregnancy both times with easy deliveries. I would probably flip that around and have a harder delivery because being miserable just about every single day for 9 and 8 months really takes a toll.

Re: easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
I think I would much rather have an easy pregnancy! So far this one has been a lot tougher then my first and its killing me!!! My labor with DD was long.. and I pushed for a while but that was only 2 days.. not 9 months

Re: easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
Ive always had difficult pregnancies and easy deliveries...But difficult for me was the constant stress over losing the pregnancy..not morning sickness or aches and pains..
My last pregnancy was relatively easy. But I really couldnt get past my history and probably made things harder on myself than they had to be.
So Im going to say easy pregnancy....then opt for an epi first thing when it comes time to deliver.

I had a dreamy pregnancy and an incredible L&D...if given the choice, I would rather the easy pregnancy. At 40wks as opposed to hours, I would deal with the hours with of pain much easier.

I had a tough pregnancy and a pretty bad labor/delivery experience.....
It would have been nice to have one or the other...maybe next time.

ITA on every aspect-- I was very blessed with a very easy & comfy pregnancy, and a very easy labor. But I'd take the tough labor over a tough pregnancy I think.

Re: easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
I had a yucky 1st pregnancy and a relatively normal 2nd pregnancy. I'd stick with the relatively normal pregnancy anytime with a harder birth process - I mean that only can last a certina amount of time. Pregnancy is a long 9 months!!!!

I agree. My misery from my delivery lasted 2-3 weeks. I'll take that over 9mths of hell.

I was blessed that I had both - easy pregnancy and a quick labor. But if I had to pick I would take an easy labor.

Re: easy pregnancy vs easy labor/delivery?
Both of my pregnancies and deliveries were hard. If given the choice I would pick hard delivery in a heart beat!!!! It only lasts a day where a pregnancy last almost 10 months. So it would be an easy choice for me.

I had an easy pregnancy and a pretty hard labor.
I wouldn't change it for the world. I handled my labor like a champ even though I ran into a bunch of obstacles and so be it...the outcome was a beautiful baby.
I'd much rather take the difficult "hours" than difficult months ANY day.

I think I'd rather have easy pregnancy as long as hard labor and deliver didn't effect health of baby.
