Is anyone bringing music into the labor/delivery room?
At the childbirth class last weekend, the instructor recommended bringing CD's. I'm having trouble deciding what kind of music I'll want to listen to. Any suggestions as to what might be calming?

I'm having DH bring his Ipod and speaker system. I'll probably wind up listening to a lot of Dave Matthews, Elton John and Coldplay- if I get kind of angry I may switch it over to Blink.

That all sounds good. I am trying to imagine what is going to help me be calm and/or be "uplifting" or give me energy and I'm having trouble. I was thinking about John Mayer. I don't want to go too mellow though.

Oh yeah. I'm making a play list for my iPod. I'm thinking Enya -- DH says that will kill him, but I don't care. I want something really relaxing for labor.

I don't have an ipod either, but the hospital we're delivering at has CD players in the Labor-Delivery-Recovery room. So I'm going to bring CDs. If I make the time, I may even make my own CD with various songs on it. If your hospital doesn't have the CD player, you could probably bring a portable if you want to.

I figured I'm going to need all the help I can get to get me through labor, so hopefully the music may give me something else to think about (other than the pain!) I hope it works for all of us!

Now I have to try to find some upbeat music on my ipod not sure I have ANY.
I listen to country and rock...two genre's that are not known for their "happy" songs.
I'm sure it will help!

We brought music when I had Nate, but I honestly don't remember if we used it.

I know that I am probably over-thinking the whole thing. There is going to be so much going on, who knows if I'll even get to use it? I figured if I have the time now I'll get it ready and hopefully it will help. If nothing else, it might make me feel better about the process now (can you tell that I'm terrified?!?!?) My friend made a great CD and ended up having a C-section. She never even went into labor. But she still loves the CD so I guess it's still useful.

Our hospital has DVD and CD players in the L&D rooms. I am bringing some music, I just need to figure out what I want to hear.

Re: Is anyone bringing music into the labor/delivery room?
It depends on the hospital...Huntington has a CD player in the LDR room. Call and ask...you may only have to bring CDs.

Re: Is anyone bringing music into the labor/delivery room?
This is pretty stupid but when I first read the post about this, happy and uplifting music for the LDR, you know what first popped into my head? That song they play in Ghostbusters 2 when they spray down the statue of liberty with slime and make her walk through manhattan to make everyone happy..."You're love...keeps on lifting me...higher and higher."

Maybe I'll add that song to my list of the ones I'm putting on a CD. lol

Re: Is anyone bringing music into the labor/delivery room?
my brother in law already told me he's making a delivery playlist and putting it on my ipod. He makes cd's for everything - car rides, vacations, holidays, etc.
he said that so far his DEFINITE song is salt-n-pepa's PUSH IT.
