eating out
I travel a lot for work. Right now I am in McAllen, Texas. But no matter where I go it is so hard to find healthy food. It is no wonder why so many people are overweight or just plain unhealthy. I am so frustrated by this. I can't eat yogurt for every meal. You can't find any food that isn't loaded with salt ab/or butter. I just had filet minon which was fine but I asked for the brocoli steamed and of corse it wa loaded with salt and a lite butter. It realy pisses me off. My heart feels like it is going 100 Mph from all the calories!
I have to go to malls around the country and all the food is so bad for you its reducilous!!
How do some people eat like this on a regular basis? Why can't I find some grilled chicken and steamed vegies with NOTHING on it? I don't get it!
Just venting. Sorry.

Re: eating out
I totally agree--- when traveling it's really hard to have something, anything healthy.
No wonder we are the fattest country.
I would just try to plan meals as much as possible-- and if you have to eat a high calorie meal-- try to do it earlier in the day, and have just the yogurt and some fruit later in the day.
Also when I travel, I try to bring my own food with me-- stuff that is obviously not perishable so when I need a snack or a supplement to a meal-- I have something low in calorie and nutritional.

Re: eating out
Holy cow Christine i was thinking this the other day. I went to CT w/ my cousin and we were at the ferry terminal and they advertised "restaurant". The "restaurant" turned out to be a snack bar/fast food service thing w/ all fried foods and FAKE cold cuts!! I was SO grossed out. I went hrs w/o eating bc of it.
I was JUST going to post how i have to be somewhere tonite at 6 and i wanted to grab something "to go" on my way and i have NO clue what i can get

Re: eating out
I do the same thing. I bring food with me. I bring raw mixed nuts, whey protein, hard boiled eggs, and apples on trips with me. But seriously, how many nuts can I eat in one day? I have to start bringing a cooler. The eggs didn't last the other day. I have to keep them in their shell till I eat them and eat them when no one ia around because I stink up the place!
Is it ok to carry brocoli on a plane?

I know it's hard... I am a total dork and I bring one of these to work with me every day-- since I eat two meals plus an afternoon snack here.. I also brought this on my last trip. Airport food is the worst-- I am also a vegetarian so I am like so limited.

Re: eating out
I hear you!!!!!! It's just so sad that at some restaurants the only thing I can eat that isn't loaded with fat is salad with grilled chicken, dressing on the side
