Eating solids- how can I get DC to eat!- UPDATED- Need advice
DC is nearly nine months and has had a pretty good appettie up unti lthis point, however, he WILL NOT take anything besides baby food. I have him on stage 2 foods but he won't take tetething biscuits, toast strips, any type of chopped up food, puffs, nothing. Won't drink juice, forget the sippy cup. I do beleive he is ready for more food as he is now getting up TWICE anight for bottles, so we are concerned about him not eating....any ideas how to get him to eat more variety......we are at a loss!
UPDATE: I'm bumping this up---was up THREE times last night with him, he drank a bottle each time, I am at a loss as to what to do to get him to eat more, I'm really upset about it as well.....I am feeling like a failure as its a vicious cycle, he doesn't eat enough and then I am up all night and exhausted during the day---honestly this time is harder than when he was first born, I feel more exhausted

Re: Eating solids- how can I get DC to eat!
You can do a little intermediary transition stage. I did it with my DD b/c she didn't really take to solids either. Basically I would make her things & fork mash them so they had more texture than stage 2 but were still a bit mushy (ie, carrots, sweet potato, mashed potato, banana, avocado, etc). Leave some small lumps & see how he does. My DD gagged in the beginning but it's a whole new world to some of the more finicky eaters.
ETA: hopefully you won't end up with a poor eater like mine. At 2 years old, she's still not interested in food. She'd rather starve!

Re: Eating solids- how can I get DC to eat!- UPDATED- Need advice
We have the same problem with DS. He is 15 months. He is getting better.
We started with cheerios. He gagged so bad, he wanted nothing to do with it.
We used the apple wheels. He liked those. Then we tried the Puffs and that helped a bit. He was not sure at first. We tried different flavors. Those we had to cut up in minute pieces at first.
He loves bananas. It's soft, sweet and mushy. He will eat "some" cheese. He likes it when it's a "stick" of food. Like I cut a stick of cheese. He eats the banana when it's not cut up. He likes to bite into it.
It's not easy. I feel your pain. DS still only eats stage 2 food mostly.
I tricked DS with eggs. I hard boiled them and mush them and mix with his oatmeal for his breakfast.

At 9 months DS did not eat a lot of solids at all - maybe some puffs or cheerios but that is it. he was a really Bad gagger ... now at 12 months he eats almost everything.
Can you increase his formula during the day? Fit in an extra bottle somewhere.

Re: Eating solids- how can I get DC to eat!- UPDATED- Need advice
DD will be 10 months next week. At her 9 month checkup I told her ped that she was choking on pastina and little itty pieces of bananas. She told me it was OK, and not to worry until DD was 12 months.
Since then (the past 4 weeks). I haven't seen any real progress.
As for the waking in the middle of the night - DD was doing that too. I stopped feeding her, and she stopped waking up. It seems that she was waking out of habit and/or for comfort and not because she was hungry. She is now only waking once instead of 2-3 times.
