Egg quality
So when my IVF#1 failed in August, I was told it may have partially due to poor egg quality / fragmentation and then possibly due to poor quality sperm. Well , while my DH has done absolutely nothing to improve his sperm (he is still smoking at least a pack a day don't get me started) - I have been on Metformin, doing a low carb diet, taking flax seed and Co-Q 10 vitamins, prenatals of course, exercising, just started acupuncture which I will be continuing through my cycle (I start Lupron next week) and I will be starting yoga at work next week too.
When I was at the acu. the other day, he told me that eggs begin producing at least 100 days before being released from the follicles...
Do you think that I have a chance at improving my quality? I started making changes immediately after the BFN in August and I am due for retrieval in mid-November. I hope I am not too late

Re: Egg quality
I agree. I don't know about the egg quality, but you're making lifestyle changes- which are for the better, which is always a good thing. Did the dr. suggest doing anything (on his end as far as your protocol) differently next time around, if that's what he thinks the reason was?

Thank you ladies No my protocol is exactly the same for this next time..which worries me a little... I mean I responded well to the stims, I stimmed for 8 days - they got 21 eggs at retrieval though, with my PCOS I feel like it could have been a little bit better. BUT - this time around I switched doctors, same practice but now I am with the head of the practice.

Re: Egg quality
You're on the Metformin this time around and that helps the egg quality. Even though I was on Met for over a year before starting my first IVF cycle, I was very haphazard about taking it my second cycle I made sure I remembered to take my entire dose every day, and the quality of my eggs were much, much better during that cycle. I think Dr. B didn't change your protocol because you did have a good amount of eggs the first time around, the only thing he added was the Metformin.

Re: Egg quality
There are just so many variables involved in egg quality. I've heard so many different things, I don't know what to believe. Sounds like you're doing a lot to help yourself...none of that can hurt.

Yea I'm good about taking it...3 / day like clockwork!!!
Yea now all we need is to at least have some good ones left over that will make it to freeze.

Re: Egg quality
As far as quality goes, I think age is the biggest factor but am not really sure about that anymore. I'm over 40 and have had 60 embryos transferred. Out of those 60 I had one healthy pregnancy and two chemicals. But, I am fully aware that my age is the biggest problem.
