Egg Retrieval

Those of you who have gone through an egg retrieval how sore are you the day of/after the procedure. Looks like we're planning for my egg donor cycle in early dec. The dr said plan to spend the day of the procedure resting and that I cannot pick my kids up for 24-48 hrs after the procedure. How sore are you in the days after?

my estrogen was really high that day and I was beyond bloated. I had the worst cramps ever. had to stay home for 3 days after that and had hard time straightening up. so ye pretty bad pain.
my friend on the other hand was totally fine the next day.
I guess everyone's different.

I was okay both times. Just a little sore and some random cramps.

Egg Retrieval

I have done 3 fresh cycles and I was sore for 3 days after all 3 of them. For the first cycle, I went to work on the 3rd day and was uncomfortable the entire day - the other cycles I did over the summer so I did not have work. I teach - if I had a job where I sat at a desk, I probably could have gone in on the 3rd day, but definitely not the day after.

Like Starr said, I was bloated and could not stand up straight. My E2 levels were also a little high and they retrieved about 20 eggs all 3 times.

Egg Retrieval

I had my ER about three weeks ago and they retrieved 8 eggs. I was a little crampy for about an hour after the procedure but totally fine after that.

Re: Egg Retrieval

I'm so nervous about this!
I watched a you tube video on retrieval - should have never done that lol
Now I am so nervous about how sore I will be.
Our nurse told me that taking the day of is sufficient enough.

I think it depends a lot of your estrogen levels and the amount of eggs retrieved (for the most part - there are always exceptions to every rule!)

Re: Egg Retrieval

I was fine both times, went home and took a nap ( I think more due to a mix of the anesthesia and getting up early), and was able to go out to dinner with friends and even played with/lifted thier 2 year old (thought I probably should not have but kept forgetting bc I felt fine). Was able go to work the next day in a pretty physical job no problem.

One of my close friends could not stand up for 2 days and almost landed herself in the hospital.

So as others have said, everyone is different.

I felt fine the day of. A bit sore the next day, but I went back to work right away, and that involved walking to the subway, standing in the subway, walking to work, etc.

Re: Egg Retrieval

I was sore/crampy for a few days afterwards and just uncomfortable b/c of the amount of eggs produced and all the hormones in your system. This time the anesthesia really knocked me out too and that whole day was pretty much a wash for me.
