Egg Retrival results

Hello,

I had my ER yesterday and they retrieved 20 eggs, of which 17 fertilized!!! I'm really excited that I have so many, which is largely due to the fact that I have PCOS.

However, does anyone know if it is true that woman with PCOS have lesser quality eggs?

Thanks.

Re: Egg Retrival results

I don't know if that is true -- I don't see why it would be. Either way, 17 fertilized eggs is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Egg Retrival results

That's a great number!!

From what I've been told, egg quality isn't necessarily affected by PCOS as much as by your age and other genetic factors.

I had 14 eggs retrieved 11 made it to fertilization, 7 made it to day 5, 2 were put back, one implanted and 5 are frozen. I'm 31 and have PCOS too.

Re: Egg Retrival results

That is a great number!!!!! What you really need to worry about is how many make it to transfer.

I also have PCOS...had 10 eggs retreived, 8 fertilized, 5 made it to day 4 transfer, we implanted 4 and I am now pregnant with twins!!!!! I also have PCOS!!!

Good Luck!!!!

Re: Egg Retrival results

Wonderful news...and I agree with the poster who said the quality of the eggs/embryo's has a lot more to do with your age and genetic factors than PCOS.
Most women on here with PCOS have gotten PG on their first or second IVF.

When is your transfer?Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks everyone for the replies!!! Definately gives me some encouragement. I'm just about 32, so I don't think age should be much of a factor.

My transfer is today at 11:15. (They are doing a day 3 transfer). I can't wait to find out how many made it and what the grades are.

Thanks again and I'll report back.

Re: Egg Retrival results

Thanks again!

I'm back from the transfer. I ended up with "two beautful embryos" (that's what my dr. said) for today. They were both 8 cells and one was a 1/2 and the other was a 2. They also freezed 14 embryos, so that's good to know in case it doesn't work. But, of course, I am hoping one or both of these little ones stick.

I was having a lot of pain when I got home, but it seems to have subsided. My dr. said it was because I was still sore from the retrieval and the transfer probably aggravated it.

Re: Egg Retrival results

Drink lots of water and gatorade to ease your discomfort...it's from the retrieval.
