Re: EI vs speech delay
I didn't have that experience, however, will your health insurance possibly pay for speech therapy? I know that many do. Good luck

Re: EI vs speech delay
If EI stand for early intervention then I might be able to help. My son was tested 2(1 at 2yrs old and again at 2.5mos) he did not qualify both times since the only problem he really has is speach. So now because he is over 2.5mos (he'll be 3 in April) I'm now going through the school district which he qualify's for I'm in the middle of having him re-evaluated and the person in charge said he should be able to receive services by Dec. or Jan. I was told that early intevention does not consider articulation problems alone enough to give children services. My son says about 30words where as most children his age say about 250words. (or atleast trys to). If you have any question feel free to fm me and I will try to help, if not good luck with everything I know how stressfull it can be.

Re: EI vs speech delay
When we requested an evaluation for DS at 24 months we were sent a book titled Help Me Talk. FM me if you would like it. DS is now 4 and will not stop talking.

Re: EI vs speech delay
DDI in Ronkonkoma has a program called "Toddler Talk" -- its a small class where the kids have some free play time, then circle time, snack and a craft. Language is promoted in all the activities. While the kids are in class, the parents meet in asmall room off to the side with a 2 way mirror and a social worker holds a parents training group. You can FM me for more info.
Also -- check out the Babybumblebee DVDs - there's also one called "Baby Babble" that Cole LOVES. I told him it was his "talking video" and now he points to the TV and says "talking? talking?" You might even find baby babble at the library.
