ELA / MATH assessment exams? CR - scoring

how do you currently score the Constructed Response portion of your schools exams? do you use an outside source (ie: pearson) or do you still do it by hand on paper?

Do you mean the state tests? I assume Long Island does it the same way the city does it...they get sent out. Teachers do grade the tests though, they're sent to different schools and some teachers are sent out of the building during the day to grade and others apply and grade per session after school.

my district (LI) used to score them all by hand in district.

now that they moved all the tests to the end of the year, starting last year, we send them out to be scored because with all the tests so close together, there would be too many teachers out scoring, etc. at the same time.

We score the tests in district ourselves.

We send our tests to Eastern Suffolk BOCES (although we are WSBOCES) and representatives from each school that sends their tests go to grade in a huge "assembly line"

I think ESBOCES charges a certain price per test. and the SDs have to pay for subs too

Thanks guys! i am currently working at a company that has helped yonkers / Charter schools of NY do electronic scoring. i was wondering if any of my LIFers have done it.

Nassau BOCES did it, and Eastern Suffolk has signed on for the 3-8 tests in may.. maybe i'll see some of you there!?!?!

i wonder who you send them to? i didn't know NYS allowed that to happen. . . i'm still learning.
