Electric fireplaces-New question added at bottom

DH and I are redoing our living room and kitchen over the next few months. Nothing major, new paint, new furniture. Anyway, One of the things I want to do is get rid our TV stand and hang the tv on the wall, hide the wires and get an electric fireplace. For those of you that have electric fireplaces, do you like them? Where did you get one? Looking for a reasonably priced one but a good one as well. Looking at maybe getting a white one, or a stone one but don't want to spend thousands. TIA!

Re: Electric fireplaces

We have an electric fireplace and I love it. I will say we rarely turn it on (we did for Christmas), but have it more for the look of it. Our tv is hanging on the wall over it.

We have a wood looking fireplace that matches my wood floors. We get compliments on it all the time. We bought it at Lowe's in 2010 and I think we paid close to $600 for it.

Thanks! I want it more than decoration than anything too. But when you do turn it on, does it give off any heat?

So mine has 2 options (has a remote). One is on with the fake fire and the 2nd option has the fake fire and heat, but it is not super powerful, but yes heat can come out of it.

Oh good! My one concern was that it would get too hot and the kids might touch it. I like that you can turn off the heat part!

We just got one for our sunroom and have the TV hanging over it. That room does not have any heat or insulation. When we turn on the fireplace, it definitely warms it up and you can use it even on a winter day (except for the coldest days).

Ours has a high and low heat setting and a setting where you can turn on the "flame" but with no heat.

We ordered it from Wayfair. I want to say it was $475±. We love it.

I order from Wayfair all the time. I've never had a problem. We just did a giant renovation project and I think 60% of what we bought came from there.

Re: Electric fireplaces

We have one and we love it. It has totally ended the thermostat wars. It uses very little electricity. It doesn't really get to the touch. We got it at sears years ago.

Thanks everyone! One more question. Can they be anchored to the wall?
