We need to up our amps to 200 (I think thats what DH said). Has anyone had an electrical upgrade done and if so, about how much money did it cost you? TIA

If you have the wiring redone, that would be above and beyond the upgrade. The $2K we paid was just for the upgrade, but as we redo each room in the house we're having them rewired.

Re: Electrical Upgrade
We just had several electricians come in to give us a quote for the same thing- unfortunately for us in order for it to be done there would need to be a trench dug from the street through our lawn, etc- all of the quotes we got were around $4500 and it was going to take awhile b/c LIPA had to get involved. We decided against doing it. They all told us that it would be between $1500-$2k if all we had needed was a simple upgrade. I wish I could explain it more, but honestly my husband is an electrical engineer so he dealt with all of the details. All I can tell you is that you'll have to get someone in to take a look at it.

Re: Electrical Upgrade
I just did this about a month ago. It cost about $1800. I guess it depends on how much work they need to do.

Re: Electrical Upgrade
WE had ours upgraded from 100 to 200 amp in January 2004. We paid $1400. The electrician put in a whole new electrical panel, plus redid some wires going from our house to the pole.
