Elwood schools vs Commack?
Would anyone shed some light please?
We have been looking a little in E. Northport and some sections are Elwood.
Is one better than the other?

I've had some clients looking in Huntington/Northport/Greenlawn areas lately.
I know Elwood is a very small district that has had some issues with budget cuts/passing budgets in recent years.
I believe Commack is a much larger district. So that would be something to factor in, whether you prefer a big district (more elementary schools filtering into a bigger high school with well over 2000 students) or a smaller district.

Elwood schools vs Commack?
I grew up in the area but went to Northport Schools.
I don't think either Elwood or COmmack is bad. They are both good districts but way different in size. Elwood is tiny compared to Commack. I would buy in either.

Elwood schools vs Commack?
I live in Commack and the schools are excellent. I have heard Elwood schools are also very good, (but I have no personal experience) but it is a much smaller school district - so depending on what is important to you, you may want to consider one over the other.

The main concern I would have with Elwood is the question of if they merge with another district, what district would that be? B/c that talk just comes up too often due to their budget. Otherwise it's a great district from what I hear. Commack is great, that's a given.

My concern would be if the DONT merge. How many programs will be cut b/c they are in financial distress. If that superintendent didn't hold out to be principal at his current superintendent salary!! ($250K) I bet a merge would have taken place already.
I didn't hear any merge talk this year though...maybe they are doing better?
