"Encouraging" your baby to hit milestones
I am not sure how to word this question but are you supposed to help you child reach milestones or let them do it on their own?...for example, is there something we can or should be doing to help Mikayla learn how to sit up or is this something that she will just automatically do?
TIA

I have also encouraged Andrew. I would prop him up with pillows or use the bumbo to help him sit up and strengthen his stomach muscles. And now I walk with him by the hand to get him walking.

Re: "Encouraging" your baby to hit milestones
To get DD to learn to sit, I would sit on the floor with her between my legs so she could lean against me and play with her toys. She she would get tierd, she would lean backwards and want to be on her back rolling around.
Now...all she wants to do is stand and walk, so I hold her by the hands and we go up and down the hallway a million times.

I started around 5 or 6 months...but DD was preemie, so her corrected age was probably 4 months or so. She didn't learn to sit on her own until about 8 months (6 months corrected age).
All babies are different...she is interested in walking now...but has no interest in crawling, even if I try to show her and get down on the floor with her.
