End of the year gifts....
What does everyone usually give to the teachers and assistants?
I did Bath and Body Works gift bags for Christmas. I was thinking Target gift cards this time.
I would love some ideas! TIA!

I'm doing Chase gift cards. $75 to the main teacher, $25-$30 to 2 assistants.

I am giving target gift cards. I have 4 teachers to give gifts to, plus the school gift so I did $10 to target for each teacher, plus another $30 for the school gift. For the holidays I gave GC to Barnes and Nobel. They went over really well.
ETA: We also have a school graduation gift to give....

Do you guys give gifts to the specials teachers as well ie science, art, music, spanish, gym etc etc....
Does anyone give the same gift to the main teacher as the assistant or do you think the main should get more?

I did $5 DD gcs for gym, art, music, etc... Between both kids I bought 20 for Christmas. I will probably do the same for the end of the year, except maybe Starbucks gcs.
I do give the teachers and assistants the same gift.

Ive worked with Teaching Assistants and I think they deserve the same gift as the teacher. They work just as hard as the teacher for a lot less money.

I do give the teachers and assistants the same gift.
I do the same thing with buying $5 GC for the special area teachers. I know it doesn't get them far but it's the thought that counts (and it adds up quickly).
I do a $20 GC for classroom teacher and $10 for assistants.

DD and DS (1st grade and pre-k) class moms are collecting money from each student and buying a gift card from the whole class, for the teachers...
if your DC class isnt doing a collection, visa or mastercard gift cards are always good, i teach preschool and i love receiving those...i also love personalized gifts to remember the child.
yankee candle also has some beautiful stuff

They are doing a class gift. I always feel like I should do my own though. I went with visa gcs from the bank for the teachers and assistants, and starbucks gcs for the extras.

Many of you will think I'm a b*tch, but I really disagree with giving a GC. To me it is the same as giving cash, which is like a tip, and I find tacky. I am giving Vera Bradley note card sets. And they are both getting the same...I agree that they work equally as hard; perhaps the TA works even harder at managing the kids so they get the same!

I don't think you are a b*tch....to each their own. I am a teacher and I like to get gifts cards. Everyone is different. Since I like to receive them, I like to also give them.

I didn't do the class gifts this year. I didn't think she was collecting enough.
I got Macy's gift cards. $50 for each teacher and $25 for each assistant. I love giving gift cards because at least she can buy whatever she wants--shoes, makeup, clothes, jewelry. At least that way I know it will definitely be used.

I don't think you are a b*tch....to each their own. I am a teacher and I like to get gifts cards. Everyone is different. Since I like to receive them, I like to also give them.

Class moms do the collecting and buy a gift card. And thank G'd for THAT! I would HATE to have to think about what to get and how much to spend!

The class mom did a collection for the teacher and aides and also the specialty teachers.
I am sending the school and edible arrangement next week....for all the teachers, aides etc.

I agree with this, and I think it's kind of tacky for the teacher's to request a gift card when asked.
I do small gifts for the teachers and the aides.

I am doing some homemade gifts. I can't keep up with spending $25+ for the teachers, teachers aid and bus drivers for the holidays and also the end of the year.
My Mom never gave a gift to my teachers when I grew up. My sis is a teacher and she says some give and some don't and she doesn't discriminate against who does and who doesn't. I do think the teacher deserves recognition, but I can't financially put a price tag on it like that.

Im with you. I cant afford $250 on end of
yr gifts, I have 2 kids. $10 gift cards are
more my speed for each teacher & aid. Or
a candle if I can get a good deal on some.
