Energy saving lightbulbs

Anyone familiar with these? We just got a bunch (in flood lights) for our ceiling in the kitchen and LR.

It's SOOOOOO bright in here-- I want to do my part for the environment-- but the lighting now blows in here... and they cannot be dimmed.

Do they come in softer or pink lights, like regular lightbulbs?

They do come in a soft light version -- DH put them in the kitchen & I can't see well in there.

That's weird. We have them and I hate them because they take soooooo long to get bright. I hated going into the kitchen to cook waiting for it to be bright enough to see.

Re: Energy saving lightbulbs

that happens to us too-- it's like every time you turn them on, they need to warm up or something.

Maybe I just can't replace every bulb... it's institutional in here now!

This is one thing I do not like about these light bulbs and Australia has just passed a law that make these bulbs a must in every home.

I only put them in some areas of the house because of this reason.

We changed to the soft white ones 60 watts. They don't take time to warm up and the light is soft...not harsh. Try them maybe..?

Not all Compact Fluorescent bulbs are dimmer compatible. You need to read the front of the packaging and buy CFLs that say they are compatible with dimmers or they won't function properly with the dimmer. GE has them I know, they are called Energy Smart Dimming Spirals

I can't stand the light off energy saving bulbs. It almost makes me nauseous. We tried but I had to remove them. We also tried them in our motion detector lights outside and they wouldn't work.
