Enfamil newborn or Up and Up Formula
Anyone use this? Any advice? NSUH usually starts you with similac advance, DS and many of my friend's babies didn't do well on it. I was looking into either enfamil newborn or the up and up brand.

Re: Enfamil newborn or Up and Up Formula
1. You can get enfamil at North Shore - you just have to ask for it or have your MD write a note (this is what my SIL was able to do)
2. I do (I am a ped. dietitian) not recommend using generic formula until at least 6mths of age, b/c formula is the sole source of nutrition at this point. Buy generic diapers, wipes, beauty products or your own food instead)
3. If you want a free case of the 2oz bottles of enfamil newborn I can get one sent to your house from our enfamil rep.

LOVED up and up. Half the price, approved by the ped- the exact same ingrediatns word for word. DD thrived on it.

Re: Enfamil newborn or Up and Up Formula
ingredients are not the same word for word?? Which is why most pediatriticans do not recommend the usage until after 6mths. Look at the back of branded formula vs. store brand...almost every item on the list is different. Its the same with store brand vs. branded vitamin. If you put them both in water, the store brand barely breaks down while the branded breaks down almost completely. Babies will still grow, its not an issue. But the vitamin and mineral absorption is different. Anyway...just my 2 cents...everyone has to do what is best for them and what they feel is right...just b/c I don't agree doesn't mean its wrong...just my honest opinion..
