engagement gift ideas for someone special
One of my best girlfriends is getting married, and I want to get her something really special as an engagement gift. It's a second wedding for both of them. They are both in their early 40s and already have everything they need. She has really picky, but really nice taste. They aren't registered anywhere and don't plan on registering either.
I'm not sure the Tiffany crystal vase / bowl thing is their taste. She would hate any of that personalized "Mr. and Mrs." stuff. She's not a big drinker. Cash and gift cards would not be appropriate in this situation. She's not a chotski / collector / "stuff" person.
I'm looking for something really unique and I'm totally stumped. She is hard to buy for!
Looking to spend about $150. I might spend more for the right gift...

what about a piece of art?
can you ascertain their taste from pieces in their home?
art.com and allposters.com may have some great finds in that price point.
do they like games (board games)? you could get a vintage board game (I am pretty sure RH has monopoly and scrabble) for all their cozy nights together as newlyweds....

Re: engagement gift ideas for someone special
I wouldn't even attempt to buy art for her. Seriously, she is picky and a control freak. (I LOVE her, but wouldn't try to buy her art ) I am however now looking at art for me thanks to those sites!
I just remembered that she always wanted to go hot air ballooning... I might consider a gift card for them to take a hot air balloon ride... Looking into that now, but it looks like that would be more than $400. I think we might do this for their wedding gift, though! (Found it through the xperience web site - thank you!)
