Engagement Party Gift? Registry or cash?
I know that cash is KING. But, at an engagement party should I get things from the registry or save that for the shower?
It is a backyard party. If DH and I go what is the going rate for a gift? HELP!

It is DH's friend. The party is in June. The wedding is in October or November. Then he is going to the b-party.
That is a lot of money to be shelling out within 3 months.

Re: Engagement Party Gift? Registry or cash?
When did they get engaged? If it was a while ago, I think it's bad form to plan an E-party so close to the wedding and would probably go with a $50-75ish gift from their registry (depending sales or coupons). If they just got engaged recently, I would give them $100 cash/check.

Re: Engagement Party Gift? Registry or cash?
I usually give a small registry gift ($50 range). I'm sorry if people think I'm cheap, but between the e-party, shower, bachelorette party, and actual wedding...I'd rather not spend an entire mortgage payment on gifts. It just gets to be way too much.

Re: Engagement Party Gift? Registry or cash?
personally, i always give a gift for engagement party or shower and i keep it around $50 - $75 depending on the person. doesn't matter where the party is being held..
people have registries because they want/need those items for their new life together, and if most people are giving cash as a wedding gift, then it makes more sense to give a registry gift for engagement party
