English Degree
What type of jobs can you get with just a BA in English?
Does anyone have their BA in English and have a job they love?

Re: English Degree
DH has an English degree - he began subbing and then became a Teaching Assistant once he started grad school for his MA in Education.
He now is an English teacher.

Re: English Degree
Well, before I got my Master's, when I had only my BA in English, I worked for Scholastic. My DH also has a BA in English, and he also works in publishing. For some reason, I think that's most common. (There's also journalism. I was an editorial assistant on a newspaper in MA right when I first graduated from college.)
Now, obviously, I'm an English teacher. (I never thought I'd want to be, but it was the best choice I could have made.)

Re: English Degree
DH has his undergrad i English. \He went to get his Masters in Sec Ed at Dowling but when he showed his transcripts to Boces they said he just had to take some Ed coourses to get certified. It was just 15 credits. He did that, got certified and then started working at a Catholic HS. Once he switched to Public school he got his masters at StonyBrook in the MLA program. It was MUCH cheaper than if he had continued at Dowling!

Re: English Degree
I have a BA in English and went for my MS in Elementary Education. Although the job hunt can be frustrating, I'm happy with my decision.
A friend of mine has her BA in English and went into publishing.
