Ergo Baby Carrier Users - Who Used it with the Infant Insert?

If you saw my Baby Bjorn post last week, it killed my back and I returned it. I ended up buying the Ergo with the infant insert and I can't figure out the best way to use it. I'm also confused because the company has three different sets of directions - the pamphlet that comes with it, and on their website, two different sets. Jordan is only 9 weeks but is long - 23.5 inches and when I tried to put him in the other day - he just seemed so long and his legs were really sticking out of the side.

If you've used it with the insert, please let me know what you did/how you used it.

We used it, although it was hard and I prefer it now that I don't use the infant insert. I usually had my husband help me. Basically, I put it around my waist, loosened the shoulder straps and put them on my shoulders. I think I then put the baby in, then clicked the shoulder straps together, then tightened the stratps. Its been awhile, DD is now 10 months old. Basically, we just followed the video. But it is hard to do for me and really just trial and error. It is MUCH easier to use once DC grows out of the insert. I tried but it never worked well. Spent hours with the video trying to figure it out and then said eff-it.

I used it when DS was 8-10wks to go one a hike. I practiced a couple of times at home while watching the dvd on my computer. DS took a nap during the hike we were able to take him out nurse him and head back.

I didn't get a DVD! Which way did they show it on the DVD?

I didn't get a DVD either. I put him in sideways (like a sling) and used the infant insert to cushion his head from the straps. His feet were at the other opening. I liked it and used it a lot around the house and taking the dog for walks. DS fell asleep in it most of the time.
I would put it on at the waist, then put DS in sideways, slip the infant insert behind his head and click the straps on the back of my neck.

DS was fine...I felt the same way at first, but he really was okay.

I just laid her on it, with her in the middle, then "rolled her up" in it-- and then put her in the carrier on a slant-- so both legs were on one side.

It's not THAT comfortable with the insert, and I Know people who haven't used it- but when it's still cold, I recco using it since it's like a blanket.

When I could, I stopped using the ergo and had a sling, and I have just started using the ergo again now that Sasha is bigger-- but when I odn't have to wear a jacket, I am going back to the sling and will wear her on my hip. I did it last week and it was great!
