Essential Therapies Spa - Sayville - WWYD?

So my MIL gave me a gift cert. for a spa facial there.

That was last December

I just called to make the appointment and was told by the person answering the phone that the business was out of business and that she, the manager/owner(I guess) of the new spa that is there is trying to "meet people halfway" with their gift cert.

Now, what I think is wierd, is that this NEW spa is in the same place, using the same phone number, and was able to look up my gift card #.

She said it would only be $45 for a $75 facial b/c she is doing her best to honor the certificates.

Should I do it - or forget it, it is fishy?

doesn't sound fishy to me. maybe they kept the same # in order to attain the customers that the former spa had.

eta: it is strange though that she was able to look up your certificate number

I've seen that happen at a local restaurant. Only difference is they weren't giving the customers any credit with them; the gift certificates were useless.

If your MIL paid for the certificate by credit card, have her do a cb. Chargeback's are generally only good for 6 months from purchase, but in the case of future delivery they are good for 6 months from the date of expiry. So she should be able to get her money back. If you don't feel comfortable asking your MIL to do a CB - I'd take advantage of the $45 facial. Chat Icon

Thank you so much, everyone. That is also REALLY good to know about the CC thing, as we also have had restaurants go under while we had gift cards...

I think I may take advantage of the facial, I guess I deserve it! Chat Icon
