Etiquitte Question
How do you thank a person that gives you two baby gifts-one at the shower and another one when they visit you and the baby at home? Do you send another thank you card? Include a note with the birth announcement? Or is just saying thanks enough?

Re: Etiquitte Question
I sent thank you notes for any gifts that I got after DS was born, either that were mailed to us or given by visitors.

Re: Etiquitte Question
I would always send a card for each gift. The shower was a separate event.

Re: Etiquitte Question
Not sure the timing of all events. If your shower was somehow the same week as your child was born, then you could send one thank you thanking the person for both gifts. But if the shower thank you was already sent you must send another thank you card for the baby home gift.

Re: Etiquitte Question
I think I spent every free moment during the first 3 months of DD's life writing out ty cards. Which reminds me, I have to get started on her birthday ty's!
I would send a separate one.

Re: Etiquitte Question
I actually lost track of everything that was given to me in the hospital because cards were placed in the wrong bags and items were all stuck together in one bag (not my doing mind you) so when I got home from the hospital I emailed everyone thanking them for coming to see us and for the thoughtful gifts. Honestly, it took me so long to write out thank you's for the shower and we got a lot more when Emerson was born and there was no way I'd have the time or energy to write out 40 more thank you cards with a new baby at home. However, over the weeks as other gifts trickled in I sent out a thank you.

Same here. I was a sleepless wreck in the beginninng. I just said TY. I just hoped everyone would just understand. I just had no time for TYs.

Re: Etiquitte Question
If your shower was like a week or two before you gave birth you could technically write one but only if they were right on top of each other. Otherwise I would just write two. If you are sending out announcements you could add in a handwritten thank you note with your announcement for the gift that was given when the baby was born, but either way I would probably just write two thank you notes.

Re: Etiquitte Question
I sent TY cards for my shower out immediately so I wouldn't get caught up by the birth. Then I kept my addresses and stamps with TY cards in DS's journal and sent a separate TY for a gift after he was born.

Re: Etiquitte Question
Everyone got two cards. I sent thank you's right after my shower at 33 weeks - then again when my DS was born. The thank-you's after he was born though had his name on the card.
