Europe with kids

Thinking of going to Europe next summer. Would be interested in anywhere! Going over summer for a week (hubby vacation time).
Only catch is we have 3 young kids who will be 2, 5 & 7.
Anyone here done this? Where did you stay? Any tips?

Europe with kids

We traveled to London and Paris with my 4 and 6 year old a few years ago. It was one of the best trip we ever took, but we opted to spend the bulk of our trip in London because we did not feel comfortable extensively travelling in non-English speaking countries (god forbid we had an emergency and neither of us speak a 2nd language).

We went to Paris and Ireland with my 3 year daughter. We had a great time. We are going again to Ireland next summer and we are deciding on another country to visit as well. We are looking forward to it.

My daughter had no problem going to the museums and other sights that my DH and I wanted to see. She always found something she liked. We did do a park one day and always had some time for her to run around and get her snacks.

Overall, I would not hesitate to travel to Europe with your kids. My daughter still talks about Paris.

Re: Europe with kids

Sorry to hijack but for those who traveled, how did you help your child/ren adjust to the time change? I have a 7 and a 3 year old and this is my biggest concern with my youngest. My 7 year old loves traveling and has been asking to go to Europe.

Re: Europe with kids

I would suggest Ireland - lots of open space and castles to check out

PP - the time change I would just let them take a little nap in the afternoon on the 1st day and then go from there. We never had a major issue with the time change.

Went to Italy with 3(8,6, and 6 months). It was amazing! The time change, we took a full 4 days to adjust, awful. Up till 3 am and sleeping until noon. That was the worst part. The good thing is the Itakians eat late dinners, so that worked well for us.

Re: Europe with kids

We went to Italy and a Mediterranean cruise when kids were 4 and 6. It was fine and we got a lot of wonderful pictures but the kids definitely had MUCH more fun going to Florida, California and the Caribbean. I was poorly planned for local travel logistics. It was hard to wave down cabs because everyone calls or uses an app for cabs. We almost got stranded at the zoo until a local called a cab for us.

I was looking into a London/Paris trip before I got pregnant. May still do this trip when kids are 1, 6 and 8 years old.
