Even More Ebay Questions
I'm currently bidding on something and I know if I put in a max big of $600 no one would try to out bid that. But the current bid (my bid) is $400. There is only 16 minutes left of the auction and I don't want to get outbid. I want this.
Should I but a max bid of $600 to make sure I get it?

wow... I hope that the item is worth way more than $600 if you do decide to do that.

Re: Even More Ebay Questions
It retails for $500. If I won it I would only pay $400. But I could bid something stupid like $600 and that would put it out of reach for some bidders. No one would buy it for $600.

a lot of sellers play games. they open accounts with different names and bid on their own items to jack up the price. I wouldn't pay retail for something on eBay. JMHO at least at the store you know it's brand new and can return it without a hassle.

Re: Even More Ebay Questions
yeah but you never now, someone else might really want it also, have there been a lot of other bids? in my experience with ebay people always wait till the last 4-5 minutes and up the bids so thats why you need to be prepared to actually pay that amount just in case someone does bid higher than $400

No one will know what your high bid is but YOU....
So the bidders wont know you will pay $600.

Re: Even More Ebay Questions
there are quite a few of this item listed. The auctions have ended for $405-$415..etc..
7 minutes left. I could add $10 to my max bid and it would still be ok.

Re: Even More Ebay Questions
I wouldn't bid more then you are willing to pay, and I definitely would not bid more then retail.

Right and when they go to bid they will be outbid because they will probably enter in increments of $5 or $10.

Didn't win. Someone else did for $425. There are two others I'm watching.
It's the GPS for dad's birthday.

Re: Even More Ebay Questions
No I have't but I will check out Costco.
I have another bid out there. I just don't think I'm ebay saavy enough for this. I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I guess I'm scared to bid high when all I want to pay is a certain amount. I really don't want to spend more than $400...$300 was the budget and I'm pushing it.
