I bought sterling silver charms on ebay that were clearly not sterling silver... seller refunded me. I wasted $4.95 in shipping, but otherwise, nope, I haven't been scammed.

Once.
My DH and I were in the car...driving through NYC....going to NJ. We were stopped at a light and this guy, dressed in a suit comes up to us asking for some $$ because his car was stuck around the corner and his wallet was inside. We felt bad for the guy so we gave him $20.
Fast forward a few weeks later and my friend Kathi told almost the identical story, even down to what the guy was wearing, she was only taken for $5.  He "looked" like a business guy that got stuck but I bet he was just a crackhead that wears a suit!!!
I was so mad. First at the guy and 2nd at my DH and I for being taken like a couple of rubes!!

i had some company catch me off guard when i was busy at work... they said they had most of my credit card # but i needed to confirm.
they ended up charging me tons. i had to change my account, but i was still out $$

I was robbed while getting gas in queens. I had my card and pumped gas and this guy started talking to me in Spanish. I was saying what sorry I don't understand. As this happened his buddy snuck into my car opened the door and stole my bran d new Coach patchwork wallet I had gotten for my 3oth birthday. There was no cash in it but it $ucked!

Well, short of buying candy from the "team players" outside King Kullen.
And buying things in bulk that I will never use- like a 12 pack of Comedy Club tix for $25.
Never went once.
I'm sure it was legit, but I just never used it.
I actually also paid $50 ofr some $100 GC to a NYC salon. never went.
But now I am old, and stingy, and I am truely in touch with my intentions.

was this for " the comic strip?" my friend did this last year... we actually ended up using them, but it would be funny if it was for the same club!
in college, i got scammed by some lady claiming to be able to tell my fortune at a convenience store she came up to me and was saying something about my "aura" being strong or something and that she could tell me my future. she followed me around, so i gave her $5 basically to go away......

yep. and it happened on 9/11 of all days, so I will DEF never forget it.
I had just graduated college and replied to a newspaper ad in Philadelphia looking for flight attendants for private jets (my Mom was a flight attendant and Dad a pilot so I felt that I knew the industry well and it was something I was willing to try while I was figuring myself out).
Anyway, I interviewed a few times over the phone with this really savvy business guy. He told me the company wanted to fly me down to Texas to interview in-person. I could either buy the ticket and they could reimburse me or I could send them the money for the ticket which would be much cheaper. I ended up wiring them $350 for the airline ticket. Long story short...the ticket was never sent to me and I never heard from them again.
It sounds SO stupid now, but at the time the guy I was conversing with was so professional and my parents totally thought the whole thing sounded legit, as did I.

I wish I could remember!
But it's likely- some random came to my office in farmingdale- it wa slike 4 years ago.
Would have been a good deal- even though you still had to buy the 2 drink min!

LOL yeah.. this friend went with another friend and she got talked into them. luckily, ANOTHER friend was getting married a couple months later so we used them for her bachelerette party- lOL we still had to do the couple drink minimum, though... but it was fun!
