Excema? pic included...

DD gets crazy dry patches on her skin and has since birth. Lately (when its warmer usually) it gets much more red. Here is a pic. She has it on both elbows and sometimes gets it on her lower legs as well.

I am going to ask the ped next visit as well but I just wanted to know if anyone could give advice offhand. I just uplaoded these pics and I noticed it in the photo.

PS.. wannabemom
you can see my super tall DD still fits in there like that!!!!

Def sounds and looks like it could be excema. DS had it and still sometimes gets it. We bathe him every 2-3 days since water dries it out, we switched to lotions and washes that are all natural, like California baby. Keep him supermoisturized and for bad breakouts weve always used some OTC Hydrocortisone ointment.

Jen, put aquaphor on it. This has worked so well on Jonah, his skin is great now, and we put it on him like 3 or more times a day.

Aquaphor works wonders. I also only bathed my DD 2-3 times a week to help with the dryness. Fortunately, she grew out of it.

Aquaphor deosnt actually do much for it. It works wonders on her diaper rash and other skin things but nothing seems to help this.

my DS has it too. the aquaphor didn't do much for him either. The one thing that did work is the aveeno oatmeal cream. its smells great and it takes care of his red bloches!!!!

we use aquaphor for maintenance, to keep it away, but we have a rx (protopic) for breakouts. Def sounds like eczema.

and I agree, we limit baths to every other day because it dries it out. DS has it worse in the winter though.

Is this one of their "baby" creams or regular Aveeno?

DS has it also, Aquaphor isn't working, and Calif Baby Calendula Cream used to help, but suddenly stopped working... Chat Icon

Thanks!!!

Re: Excema? pic included...

my DS has excema. For daily application, we use Aveeno Fragrance Free.

When he gets a bad outbreak, we use Cortizone. It disappears within a day or so.

Re: Excema? pic included...

Regular cortizone did not work for my kids so we got a presciption cream which has done great within 2 days. My Dr said heat and humidity can make it worse. She also said to wash with cetaphil-I only wash their bodies with that and then use Aveeno unscented on their hair and face
