Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
So I had my growth sono last night... and the baby is breech ..
yes Yes yes YES I know she can still move.
I am *NOT* worried in the slightest one way or the other the gal has to come out right?
Yes, I know C-sections are more painful and recovery is longer etc, but isnt your baby worth it?
OK, so question... How long do they give you to have the baby move on its own?
Im due 9/8 so I'm about 5weeks away right now..
My Doc is on vacation the last week of August (my 38th week) and apparently they don't schedule C/s on labor day (??not sure I got that right, but it is ironic)
So I was wondering if any of you ladies had this experience and how much time do they give you???
I see my doc again on Tuesday but really its just the Nurse Practioner I probably won't see "THE" doc until the week after...which means I'll be 36weeks

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
They typically will not schedule a c-section before the 39th week unless there is another medical necessity which requires that it be sooner.
The baby can turn up to the day of the c-section. If you go in the morning you are scheduled, and the baby is head down, my dr. said they would send you right home and wait for natural delivery.

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
DD was breech the better part of my pregnancy...she turned around about 28 weeks, and promptly turned back...
My OB checked her position every appointment but at about 34/35 weeks, it was pretty clear she wasn't moving so he scheduled the c-section...he kept checking to see if she moved (he would have cancelled the c-section), but I knew she wasn't going to - she didn't have any room!
I had her at 39 weeks...
ets - Dr did check that day just to make sure...if she'd turned, they probably would have sent us home...

ok,
Thank you! Thats very good to know
My father would KILL me if I had my baby early! He's flying in on the 21st and has missed everyone's birthing.. mine, my brothers', my sister's, my nephew.. he really wants to be here for mine. I want him here too..
Still I have to say between Dad and baby, guess who wins!
Side question: Do all doctors try to manually turn the baby?????

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
i think i scheduled my c-section at 36 weeks for my 39th week
they wont do it any earlier than 39weeks
but my baby was measuring big and they KNEW around 34 weeks she wouldnt turn by herself
i didnt mind the c-section at all, from what i hear the pain of v-birth is i'd opt for the c-section anyday!!
i was good after i got home... only in REAL pain for the 1-2days...
and when you have baby in your arms... no pain hurts that bad anymore!!
best of luck!!

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
They scheduled my c-section for the week before her due date- i had the choice if i wanted to try and manually turn her and I choose against it... they double checked to see if she was still breach a few days before the c-section and the morning of if she was still in breach- if she had moved, they would have canceled it...

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
I had my C-section at 38 weeks because my dr. feared I would go into labor and Ava was breech. As for a baby turning...Ava was head down for a very long time and in my 37th week, she flipped to breech and fattened up so there was no chance of her moving.

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
They scheduled my Csection 3 weeks before my due date. I had to keep going in for ultrasounds each week though. Even on the date of the delivery, they did an ultrasound to see if she turned. Good luck!

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
My sister had a c-section today at 35w2d after having Braxton Hicks for the last month, and real contractions for the past two weeks. She had growth sono on Wednesday (at exactly 35w) and they sent her to the hospital, and almost did the c then, but changed their minds. She wound up w/ contractions 5 minutes apart this morning.

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
I had a c/s with my first. he was breech the whole time. My doc would not schedule me for any sooner than 39 weeks (per his and the hospitals policy).
We spoke about a version (to turn the baby), but I decided against it for two reasons - my baby was big (and he was!) and there is only a 50-50 chance of it working, and even if it works, there is a still a chance they can turn back breech. So I chose not to have the version done.
My water broke at 37 weeks and I went to hospital and he was born via c/s because he was still breech.

Re: Excuse me.. Preggo with a Question: Breech Babies
well my doc is out on vacation during my week 38 and Im already on week 35 coming up on Monday
She's always been breech.. *shrug*
I rather not have her manually moved cuz what's to say she wont move back and I'd rather have it all scheduled out and cancelled then all last minute.
Plus they are really worried about me going early.. even if she wasn't breech
Dont really know why, but I'm no expert.
With my commute (im still doing it at least until end of next week) they REALLY don't want to risk me going full term with a breech baby.
Still, I'm not even at the weekly visit stage.. I mean I'm just being cautious.. right?
