i gained 6 lbs in one week towards the end. the next time i saw the doctor i was back to my regular weight as if hose 6lbs never happened. still don't know why.

they also measured DS at over 9lbs. he was 7lbs 15oz when he was born. (although he did have very large shoulders)

i had to have a c-section because i never got past 3cm. afterwards i found out he was sideways anyway and never would have come out naturally.

if it's safe try seeing what happens. your baby may be a lot smaller than they think.

good luck!

You must have had a lot of water retention, too.
Thanks!

This happened to me as well. At 32w i was measuring like 36/37 weeks. We explored all our options by my ob did not want me going even a day past my due date because of some other underlying health issues. DS was born via c/s at exactly 40w at 9lbs 10oz.

Re: Expecting with first baby - need some BTDT advice

I had an almost 10 pound baby and I only gained 30 pounds. I am only 5'2" and was in the upper 120's before I got pregnant. No one said anything about the baby's size until the end of my pregnancy. I was induced and had a c section but it was only due to failure to progress not the baby's size. My doctor told me that I could try natural with no issues. It was quite annoying having everyone keep telling me how big my baby was!!! He was so cute when he was born because he had features and is now in a high percentile but he is super tall, not chubby!

Re: Expecting with first baby - need some BTDT advice

DS#1 was born 6 days early at 8lbs 3oz. And measured perfect at each visit.

DS#2 measured 2 weeks ahead of time. The doctors were convinced that I was going to have a baby bigger than DS#1. I was in active labor and the doctor checked me vaginally and told me he was at least 9lbs. So we started taking bets.

Well low and behold I delivered my little guy and he was only 6lbs 8oz Chat Icon Everyone was wrong all along.

The reason why I was measuring big is because I had an anterior placenta and no one caught onto it until after my delivery.

Good luck!!!

I personally would not schedule a c-section for a big baby. Your size (petitie) has nothing to do with how you will deliver. The size of pelvic opening is more of an indicator- and you can have your OB check that during internals as you get further along. They will tell you if your opening is wide or narrow (has nothing to do with hip size either).

Let nature take its course and see what happens. Don't stress about delivery because anything can happen and what will be will be. Enjoy the end of your pregnancy!

my doctor told me that the baby would be on the larger side, which I kind of figured anyway. He was actually making me nervous because he kept hinting that there is a greater chance I'll have to have a c-section because the baby was on the bigger side, but never said anything about inducing labor. With that said, I had DS 4 days before my due date, vaginally. he was 8lbs 8oz and there were no problems! just wait and see!!

Not at all! DS1 was 8lb, 7 oz, 21 inches and one week early (my water broke 9 days early). DS2 was 8lbs, 3 oz, 20 inches and was 11 days early (my water broke 12 days early)

Wow! Great sizes! I wonder if your due date was wrong on both DC.

I think they were spot on, we just come from big baby families, so I think the growth sonos were pretty spot on too.
